| Portugal (Rough Guide Travel Guides) (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"This guide is quite good to give you an overall view of Portugal. It is quite comprehensive, it gives you a bit of everything you may need to know. It also seems to cater for everyone, different ages, sex, etc. I am a regular holiday maker in Portugal and really love it there. This book has given me a good introduction not just as a visitor but as someone with a deeper interest in the country. Useful aspects it covers include tips on living and working in Portugal." www.HomeIsAway.com great Vocation or Holiday House to Exchange in Portugal. |

| The Rough Guide to Portuguese (A Dictionary Phrasebook) (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"I'm going to be traveling for Lisbon very briefly and just wanted to have enough Portuguese to get by. This book has just a couple of pages of useful phrases, then it's a thorough dictionary. I would have liked to see more phrases and sentences that are likely for a visitor or tourist to need. I don't want to have to learn to conjugate verbs to say "I'm from Canada"." Relax with this book when on Vacation in Portugal. It would be so handy when you Exchange a Vacation Apartment in Portugal. "You can't expect everything from a phrase book, but this one is quite good. It caters for the needs of the visitor who just wants to get by. It has a good selection of words and phrases. You usually find what you need or an alternative that will do. I particularly like the English sound-alike transcription of the Portuguese words and phrases. It helps with the pronunciation. It has helped me." www.HomeIsAway.com great Vocation or Holiday Casa to Exchange in Portugal. |

| Portugal (Lonely Planet Country & Regional Guides) (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"Egypt and Portugal are the only two countries besides America I will ever want to travel in. While not the best guide I have ever read this one is still quite useful. If you ever go there see the Palacio Nacional da Pena in Sintra and the Palaco do Visconde de Estoi near Faro" Why not buy this book, and read while on your Vocation or Holiday in Portugal. It would be so usefull when you Exchange a Vocation or Holiday Cottage in Portugal. "We used this as our only guide around Lisbon and the north of Portugal. This guidebook was full of relevant and useful information. The advice for lone women travellers and information on transport was especially good. The only area where it let us down was in the nightlife section - it seems that the hotspots of Lisbon and Porto aren't quite what they used to be. Overall an excellent guide." Why not buy this book, and read while on your Alternative Holiday in Portugal. It would be so usefull when you Exchange a Alternative Holiday Cottage in Portugal. "I usually avoid The Lonely Planet guidebooks as I find them getting more & more commercialised as less 'off the beaten track'. Therefore when I used the guide to Portugal I was thrilled at it's content, maps, recommendations & overall informative value. I have since lent this to friends who also have had nothing but praise for it's merit - well done!" Relax with this book when on Alternative Holiday in Portugal. It would be so handy when you Exchange a Alternative Holiday House in Portugal. |

| A Concise History of Portugal (Cambridge Concise Histories) (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"In my view, this history of Portugal gives a distorted image of the country. It stresses the country's problems and plays down its achievements. The book pictures Portugal as a country struggling to establish a place on the world scene; modernise its economy and society; and secure political stability (!). In contrast, one can not find much on Portugal's gold age of the voyages of discovery and a worldwide maritime empire in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. In fact there is not much on the first centuries of Portugal as a country. The whole book is rather biased, giving a one-sided and not particularly flattering picture of Portugal. I much prefer the more objective and well-balanced approach of 'Portugal: A Companion History, by Jose Hermano Saraiva et al." www.HomeIsAway.com great Vacation House to Exchange in Portugal. "Students and travelers requiring an introduction to the people, culture, economics, politics, and history of Portugal will benefit substantially from reading A Concise History Of Portugal by David Birmingham (Emeritus Professor of Modern history, University of Kent at Canterbury). Now in its second edition, A Concise History Of Portugal is a modern account and the first to be written in English since the termination of dictatorship. No international history series can be considered complete without the inclusion of this Cambridge University Press edition of David Birmingham's A Concise History Of Portugal." Why not buy this book, and read while on your Alternative Holiday in Portugal. It would be so usefull when you Exchange a Alternative Holiday Apartment in Portugal. "As a student of Portuguese at KCL with very little prior knowledge of the country and it's history, this concise yet informative guide is proving to be a most rewarding purchase. Although it may not go into immense detail, the information provided gives a good grounding in the fascinating history of this wonderful country." www.HomeIsAway.com great Alternative Vacation Villa to Exchange in Portugal. | Portugal: A Companion History (Aspects of Portugal S.) (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"This history of Portugal contains a remarkable amount of information for such a small book, small enough to go into your pocket or handbag. It covers the pre-history of Portugal and the founding of the country in the 12th century and its history all the way to the end of the 20th century. I like this book because it is so informative, concise and readable. It also has lots of illustrations including very clear maps. Another aspect I like in this history is that it is very objective, no bias in favour or against the country. This is the best history of Portugal I know and I would recommend to anyone interested in this subject. Great value for money." Before exchanging a Alternative Holiday Apartment in Portugal, I would read this book while in Portugal. "This is an excellent book, brief, concise yet comprehensive. It covers the Portuguese history from its ancient roots to the present day. All presented in small chunks. Very user-friendly. It's a pleasure to read. I also like the maps, very informative and plenty of them. There are good photos too. At the end tables and other data complete the book. This is a gem. I am pleased I have come across this companion history and am delighted to recommend it to anyone interested in Portugal and its people past and present."
