| Playing with Water: Alone on a Philippine Island (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"If you're inspired to go to tropical places after watching "The Beach", then this story might make you think again! It's full of the complex struggle to survive on a tropical island and reveals some of the home-sickness you might expect when so far from everything you know best. The author's spirit of adventure and survival is both realistic and at times esoteric. It shows how thoroughly inventive you need to be and also goes back in time to an interesting middle-class upbringing in 1950's London. Altogether a very interesting and enjoyable account." This book has a wealth of information about Philippines Island. So take it with you when you Exchange a Holiday Cottage in Philippines Island. |

| Lonely Planet Philippines (Country Guide) (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"Unlike some other reviewers, I don't think the travel warnings should be suppressed. Yes these things happen rarely, but better safe than sorry! The Philippines are a very friendly country but let's not forget there are rebels in Mindanao and guerillas (even though almost inactive) on Luzon, not to mention the high crime rates in the big cities, especially Manila - and Lonely Planet as usually does excellent job warning about all of these. The locals I was talking to confirmed all the information.
It looks though like except for the travel warnings this guide is not updated frequently. A small example: it claims that the voltage in Baguio City is 110V while it looks like they switched to the countrywide standard when the US military has left, 15 years ago." Relax with this book when on Vacation in Philippines Island. It would be so handy when you Exchange a Vacation House in Philippines Island. "An excelent guide that I found both very informative and easy to use. There are plenty of maps and photographs to enable the reader to get a real feel for the place. I found this guide a very useful aid in the planning of my itinery for my visit to the Phil's, esp' the web addresses as these allowed me to find more information, maps and photos on the internet. Excelent!" This book has a wealth of information about Philippines Island. So take it with you when you Exchange a Holiday Apartment in Philippines Island. "Found this book useful and informative. I've often found Lonely Planet to be quite out of date, but not on this occasion - price guides seemed quite accurate and didn't find anything that had disappeared. I've seen some other reviews (by Americans) criticising it for having an anti-US bias in the history sections - but I didn't agree with this. The Philippines has had a very difficult history and has suffered at the hands of other countries colonial interests - the US included - and I thought this was well explained. The general commentary is informal and I would recommend this guidebook for all generations." A wealth of information about Philippines Island, a great book if you are thinking about exchanging a Holiday Holiday property in Philippines Island. "After several visits in the last year to the Philippines I have come to realise that this guidebook is seriously out of date. Mostly because this print is already an update of an earlier print. Especially with regards to Northern Luzon (information about Baguio), Mindoro (a.o. Puerto Galera and Roxas) and about transport from and to Metro Manila (due to frequent changes in busterminals). About other regions I can't give any statements because I have not been there. But based on what I have found out so far I'm first making use of the Internet and local contacts (through e-mail and telephone) before turning to this guidebook. Of course the book can be used for reference material." If you are thinking about exchanging a Vacation Houses in Philippines Island, I would buy this book to take with you while in Philippines Island. |

| America's Boy: The Marcoses and the Philippines (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"If you had to choose just one book to provide political insights and revelations on the history of the Philippines, James-Hamilton Paterson's "America'a Boy" must be the one to go for. Yet it is far more than an outstanding history. It provides such authentic pictures of everday life, both town and village, and so measures the mentality of the Filipino, that it also ranks as the best tourist-primer I know. (As one who known quite intimately the Philippines over thirty years, you just feel in your bones he must be married to one.) His pen is poetic - reminiscent of Rizal himself, and his sympathy for the Filipino is real. A classic in every way, which will without doubt stand the test of time." A wealth of information about Philippines Island, a great book if you are thinking about exchanging a Vacation Vacation property in Philippines Island. "An amazingly entertaining mixture of poltics, history, biography and thought with tremendous educational and entetainment value. Its also a very deep book with lots to think about in terms of the environment, politics and ethics. Fantastic even if you know nothing about the Phillipines, though you won't after finishing this book This is a massive acheivement and worth the value of ten novels from the Booker Shortlist, easily!" www.HomeIsAway.com great Vacation Property to Exchange in Philippines Island. "This is an excellent book. It gives a superb insight into the workings of The Philippines and its people, which can be quite extraordinary. The potted history in the first few chapters is excellent (and shocking). A must for anyone who intends to visit, work or live in the PI." This book has great information on Philippines Island, well worth reading if you exchanging a Vacation Casa in Philippines Island. |

| The Philippine War, 1899-1902 (Modern War Studies) (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"This book just was selected to the Army Chief of Staff's Reading List and has won numerous prizes. It is THE book on the subject and the only thorougly researched history of this war. Linn provides a detailed account of the big-battle operations of 1899 and then looks at the guerrilla war in the various islands. There is a detailed and fair analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of American and guerrilla forces--and the notes show Linn did research in both American and Filipino sources. This book has a lot to teach about our current military situtation, which may be why troops in Iraq are reading it." Before exchanging a Vocation or Holiday House in Philippines Island, I would buy this book to guide you round the local areas in Philippines Island. "Can you pls. send me all about philippines fr. 1800-1900 century(DOMESTIC ) and the 1800A.D.,1800 (any restaurant) AND THE PRESENT FORM OF RESTAURANTS.Hope to hear you soon.ASAP.." Before exchanging a Holiday Property in Philippines Island, I would read this book. |
