This book might be useful for someone spending a week or more in Norway but for shorter breaks it's difficult to prioritise from the information provided. "I found this book to be excellent in it's exhaustive cover of every last inch of the country. It provided infinitely more detail about everything that it's Dorling Kindersley counterpart, although slightly more focus on the National Parks would have been welcome.
It also covers everything else you'd need to know, about getting there, cultural information, a large history, flora & fauna and even two rather excellent Norwegian stories.
The bad thing is the pictures, or rather lack thereof. There are a few miserable snaps sandwiched into a couple of pages about halfway through - they aren't really any good to anybody. Otherwise, however, an excellent book." A wealth of information about Norway, a great book if you are thinking about exchanging a Holiday Holiday property in Norway.

"I adore Lonely Planet guides and bought this to plan a trip to Tromsø from where to explore Lofoten, Troms, and Finnmark. The person coaching me on my visit and with whom I've got crash space if I get there before they head off travelling themselves is from Havenstøy and goes to school in Tromsø -- they read this guide while visiting New Zealand and said it's rather inaccurate regarding the northern part of Norway. Not having gone yet, I cannot confirm this but it's a great read for background information and b/c I've had astounding luck with Lonely Planet guides elsewhere I'll be sticking with it regardless." "I've been recently travelling all around Norway, from South to North, including the Arctic archipelago of Svalbard. I found this guide generally very useful, but weak when it comes to talk about the Nordland, the Far North (Troms and the Finnmark) and Svalbard. For example, Lofoten is surely a fascinating place especially for hikers - like I suppose the author is - but many description are exhagerated and you might be disappointed once there - like I was. The Nordland is not sufficiently covered and the information sometimes might be poor in contents. Same about the Finnmark. The Svalbard part of the guide could be more exhaustive, altought I agree is a surely less touristic place than Bergen as a matter of fact is. There is space for improvements, but you cannot find anything better packed." If you are thinking about exchanging a Holiday Casas in Norway, I would buy this book to take with you while in Norway.

"Norway's a deceptively large country with many, many small towns and interesting regions, all of which are separated by large distances. This book scratches the surface of all of them.

I found the guide fairly weak for southwestern Norway (Stavanger & Bergen areas). While it did direct me to the more obvious tourist areas, I felt as if I had no idea about 90% of the other things I could do.

In summary, because they try to cover the whole country in one book, the coverage of any one area tends to be superficial." Before exchanging a Vacation Property in Norway, I would buy this book to guide you round the local areas in Norway.

"Ian Mitchell's journey to the Northern Isles & Scandanavia is a wonderful exploration of some remote and spectacular country. The people he meets are engaging, the scenery he describes, is breathtaking, the politics and history, fascinating. His self depricating humour is amusing and his crew are quirky & interesting.

It is a pity he doesn't show the same good manners to the poor conservationists he harangues & mocks as he tours around. His analyses of the conservation industry in his previous book " Isles of the West" was as fascinating as it was timely. This time round it reads like a tired obsession and jars the flow of an otherwise very readable book.

Perhaps it is time for Mr Mitchell to ditch this particular obsession over the side." Before exchanging a Vacation House in Norway, I would read this book.

"I have never read a more hilarious piece of academic literature. The Norse Kings are so funny... you wouldn't believe how many of them died in drunken accidents. But that's not the book's focus. As a college junior, I found this book to be a great reference for my History and English papers and have included it in my necessary-reference-books collection. Sturluson is great! A very entertaining read.

Word Ninja" This book has best information on Norway, well worth reading if you exchanging a Vacation Villa in Norway.

"Heimskringla is probably one of the more famous works of Snorre Sturlason, but it's probably best read in it's original language. Unfortunatly, and luckely for me, this privelege to tread it in it's original language is prohibited the people of scandinavia. But Heimskringla is a magnifisent piece of work, and should be read by everyone interested in norse mythology. The lyric, the spirit and the "feeling" is extraordninary." Why not buy this book, and read while on your Vacation in Norway. It would be so usefull when you Exchange a Vacation Apartment in Norway.
