| Tibet Handbook with Bhutan: The Travel Guide (Footprint Handbooks) (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"This book provides a more profound insight into Tibet for those interested in Tibetan culture, trekking and adventure travel, than the others that are on the market. It is the most comprehensive guide- uniquely including the vast eastern regions of Kham, Amdo and Gyarong, as well as Ngari and Utsang. The book avoids the traditional steriotypes of Tibet and includes much information directly translated from original Tibetan sources as well as data derived from more than 50 fieldwork expeditions and trips in Tibet. The author, Dr Gyurme Dorje, is a Tibetologist, who has been involved in Tibetan studies for over 30 years, and has authored several books on diverse aspects of Tibetan culture. His handbook has the advantage of being continuously updated." If you are thinking about exchanging a Alternative Vacation Villas in , I would buy this book to take with you while in . |

| Dreams of the Peaceful Dragon: Journey into Bhutan (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"While it's always fascinating to read about adventures in Bhutan and other Himalayan places, for some reason I found this book - and the author's style - quite irritating. Despite an acquaintance with the Bhutanese royal family, the author appears to be sailing through on a free ride, and doesn't seem to have the grasp of the country that is apparent in Beyond the Sky & the Earth, by Jamie Zeppa." A wealth of information about Bhutan, a great book if you are thinking about exchanging a Vacation Vacation property in Bhutan. "Reading this was a journey of enchantment for me, too. If the author had some special help in reaching the uttermost reaches of this little-known country, she paid for it with the intense discomfort, hardships, dangers, fever, and uncertainties of a journey made the old-fashioned way, without maps or roads or even a half-decent meal at the end of each day. Jolted right out of the comfort zone of planned modern travel, her heightened awareness and acute observations are the prizes she brings back in this wonderfully written and often hilarious book.
I can't wait to find a copy of the book of photos (now sadly out of print) taken on the same journey by Tom Owen Edmunds." This book has wonderfull information on Bhutan, well worth reading if you exchanging a Vacation Apartment in Bhutan. "By chance, I picked up this book inside a huge tent filled with all kinds of literature and just flicked open the first few pages. That's all it took to become totally captivated by this journey into the strange unknown world that seems like fiction. My friends asked, after reading the back, "Is it just a story?", so intriguing and strange are the contents of Katie Hickmans journalistic diaries. This book is worth getting for anyone who has the vaguist interest in other cultures, or for anyone who needs their faith re-establishing in the peculiarity and individuality of humanity." This book has supper information on Bhutan, well worth reading if you exchanging a Holiday Villa in Bhutan. "i've never been to Bhutan, and my knowledge of it, was very little until I read this book, I found it to be very informative and interesting, giving a real insight in to the country and its culture. really fun and exciting at times. very good, drags on at parts I felt, but generally excellent" www.HomeIsAway.com great Vacation Property to Exchange in Bhutan. |

| Lonely Planet Bhutan (Lonely Planet Country & Regional Guides) (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"Lonely Planet is unbelieveable! They continually pump out the HIGHEST quality guidebooks, and they've done it again with this edition covering Bhutan. I have spent a good portion of my life researching, and hording information on Bhutan, and have found Lonely Planet's guidebook to contain everything and more that the traveller could ever want...with two exceptions. I think that the lack of the U'cen script in the language chapter is a serious mistake. Lonely Planet has the capacity to print in the U'cen script as they did so in their Tibet edition. My other qualm is with the sparse coverage of the smaller and admittedly FAR less visited dzongkhags (districts) (i.e., Daga, Samdrup Jongkhar, Pema Gatshel, Zhemgang, Tsirang, etc.). Lonely Planet, resolve these issues and your book will be the best it could be." www.HomeIsAway.com great Vocation or Holiday Apartment to Exchange in Bhutan. "I bought this guide before my first trip to Bhutan, and it helped me immensely in planning my tour. It contains detailed information about the country--history, culture, geography, and facts for travelers. And it gives accurate information about the trekking routes and cultural tours. As is typical for Lonely Planet publications, this one is interesting and well written, and I found the information to be relevant to my trip. It is not easy to travel to Bhutan (there are many government restrictions), and this book made everything easier. I had such a successful, fun trip that I've been back several times (www.jachungtravel.com), and I still refer to this edition of the guide. It's packed with good information, and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to go to Bhutan." This book has best information about Bhutan. So take it with you when you Exchange a Alternative Vacation Cottage in Bhutan. "Hello! I'd been searching for a book on Bhutan which could provide me with a little bit of everything about the country viz. the history, geography, people and the culture. I have searched for books on Bhutan in several book stores around. It was so hard to find one in English but I think this one will do. May be, finally......... I have found the book I'd been looking for." Before exchanging a Vacation House in Bhutan, I would buy this book to guide you round the local areas in Bhutan. "LP do it again. The guide rightly focuses on facts for the visitor, explaining the practicalities of travelling to the country and pointing out how one can design a customised tour. It provides an excellent introduction to the religion, culture and customs of Bhutan and covers the main highlights of the country in a sensible 'following the road' style - so you come across points of interest in the book in the same order as you come acoss them while in a hi-lux. There is an exhaustve and mouth-watering section on trekking, with a detailed advice concerning trekking health. It you are thinking about visiting this beautiful country, buying this book will convince you." | Beyond the Sky and the Earth: A Journey into Bhutan (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"For anyone going to Bhutan, this book provides a fantastic insight into the culture, geography, religion and people of one of the most fabulous places in the world (I know, I've been there !). The story that unfolds is honestly told and doesn't pull any punches with it's ending. If you're not going to Bhutan it's still a good read." www.HomeIsAway.com great Holiday Property to Exchange in Bhutan. "I was looking for a book that really expressed what it was like to live as a westerner in Bhutan, rather than just visit there. I didn't want to read about mere places and locations, so much as listen at the feet of a storyteller who could tell me about a very special people, and their way of life. This book achieves that goal beyond my hopes. Jamie herself is very likeable, and I felt so honoured to be sharing her experience of teaching, and more often being taught by, the Bhutanese." Before exchanging a Vocation or Holiday Villa in Bhutan, I would read this book. "The subject matter of this book is indeed interesting, the culture beautiful and the story that unfolds compelling, but I feel that this book wastes the oppurtunites that the story held. Within the opening sentences I could see that this was going to be a difficult read with each revelation and "struggle" grating at me more. This book is written in the style of every English graduate I have ever met...which is no good thing. I think that as a gateway book to Bhutan it is useful, but for any international veterans out there, this book will disapoint and indeed frustrate." If you are thinking about exchanging a Vacation Properties in Bhutan, I would buy this book to take with you while in Bhutan. |

| Field Guide to the Mammals of the Indian Subcontinent: Where to Watch Mammals in India, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Pakistan (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"I found this book to be overall pretty disappointing. First off, the illustrations are horrible. They look like children's cartoon drawings. Why don't the editors of mammal-books hire the same artists who do bird guides? The latter are generally really good. Secondly, there is a lot of important information lacking. For example the book states that it describes "almost all the species that can be identified in the field easily". I was hoping for a book to 'the mammals of the indian subcontinent' (ALL of them) not a book of 'the mammals of the indian subcontinent that can be easily identified'. The whole section at the end on 'Where to Watch mammals' is pretty useless. I'll get that info from the 'Lonely Planet', thanks. That space should have been spent instead on descriptions (and better illustrations) of more species." Before exchanging a Vacation House in Bhutan, I would read this book while in Bhutan. |
