| "Time Out" Guide to Patagonia ("Time Out" Guides) (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"This book has an amazing amount of information on Patagonia in general, and specifically Valdes Peninsula where I will be visiting. I was going to spend a lot of money with tour packages, uncertain accommodations, and a guy waiting at the airport holding up my name on a poster board...but now I can arrange it myself with this book and a taxi." Relax with this book when on Vocation or Holiday in Argentina. It would be so handy when you Exchange a Vocation or Holiday House in Argentina. "I have just returned from a trip to Chile and spent around 2 weeks in Chilean and Argentine Patagonia. I bought this book because it was specific to Patagonia and also 3 for 2 in Waterstones! It's an interesting and easy read with quite a lot of description, history and background. Although a slim volume, it's also nicely glossy with plenty of pictures, and the information I used seemed to be accurate. However, with my bad Spanish, there is no way I could have negotiated Patagonia confidently or planned my trip in any detail using just the information in this book. There was nothing much in the way of travel times between places, bus information or decent town maps, and the section on Chilean Patagonia is quite small. Patagonia is a truly beautiful place to visit, but I would highly recommend borrowing this book from the library to get a feel for the region, and then buying the Footprint guides for Chile/Argentina to take with you." This book has great information on Argentina, well worth reading if you exchanging a Holiday Property in Argentina. |

| Lonely Planet Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay (Lonely Planet Country & Regional Guides) (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"Except for most of the Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego chapters, which show evidence of capable research and writing, this is a step backward from the previous edition. The coverage of northwestern Argentina is superficial and even naive, and the coverage of Iguazu falls missed the enormous changes that resulted from privatization of national park services over the past few years. It looks as if only one, perhaps two, of the five authors was really up to the job." This book has great information on Argentina, well worth reading if you exchanging a Holiday House in Argentina. "The first 'reviewer' has it wrong--this edition of Lonely Planet's Argentina book is a remarkable improvement over the 3rd edition, which at times is convolutedly wordy beyond belief. The review sounds like it was written by the previous author. Be aware that some competetive guidebooks, such as those put out by Avalon (or Moon) pay their authors based on the royalty system. In other words, on how many books they sell. Avalon may be putting out their own Argentina guide soon. Your best advice: run through the books at a bookstore and decide for yourself which fits your needs best." If you are thinking about exchanging a Vocation or Holiday Properties in Argentina, I would buy this book to take with you while in Argentina. "Planning a trip to Argentina? This is the book for you. I wouldn't be without Lonely Planet Guides for their honest and reliable advice and this title certainly provided me with all I needed to know when mapping out my route. The helpful background information on history, geography, politics and the arts help to set the scene and ensure that, as a traveller, you are able to develop an understanding of the country rather than just darting from one sight to the next. Divided into sections according to the geography of the country, this guide book is easy to use and helpfully breaks down accomodation choices into budget, mid range and top end. Whilst the sections are not exhaustive, it prepares the traveller but does not pretend to be prescriptive. Interesting boxed sections focus on key features of Argentinian life, such as tango, and there are helpful sections on South American Spanish and native wildlife." Relax with this book when on Holiday in Argentina. It would be so handy when you Exchange a Holiday Cottage in Argentina. "I found this book useful, but the more recent (2004) "South America on a Shoestring" had more up to date information about hostels, bars etc while retaining most of the necessary details about these countries." This book has supper information about Argentina. So take it with you when you Exchange a Alternative Holiday Villa in Argentina. |

| Lonely Planet: Trekking in the Patagonian Andes (Walking Guides) (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"I am using the latest (thid ed.) on my second trip to South America. It an indispensable resource with very accurate text and maps which are quite accurate to use even if you you don't have a topo (yeah I know, but maps are not always easy to buy here). The routes carefuly prepared...this new edition has a whole lot of new trails. I'm also finding it up to date. One thing is maybe that the authors could have given better coverage to some areas such as the Pumalin. But this is more than enough material to spend a couple of summers down here anyhow, even if you just go for it! I definitely feel anyone that wants to trek in this region will be sorry if you don't have this book. Enjoy! Feel free to contact me privately for any info. Ryan" Relax with this book when on Vocation or Holiday in Argentina. It would be so handy when you Exchange a Vocation or Holiday Property in Argentina. "A typical LP trekking guide book. Very thourough and detailed, with good maps and and trek descriptions. Useful tips concerning where to buy trekking supplies and accessories in remote areas. Makes possible solo trekking even at most difficult treks. The language section is appropriate and does not double those of other LP South American guidebooks, concentrating on trekking-related phrases and words. The only weak point is probably the language. In my opinion, an average trekker, whose native language is not English, will stumble a lot upon many of the phrases and words used in the text." Relax with this book when on Holiday in Argentina. It would be so handy when you Exchange a Holiday Casa in Argentina. "I really recommend this book as a must if you want to do any serious walking in Chile. The book lists all the essentials to bring and what to expect, even where to get camping gas. The walks are selected in order of difficulty and days, with photos of what you will see on the way and where camping and huts are located. I managed to walk round chile for 2 months without the aid of any expensive group travel and with little Spanish, just armed with my LP. The walks selected, especially the torres del paine are spectacular, its a definite must for the would be walker!!!" | The Rough Guide to Argentina (Rough Guide Travel Guides) (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"a comprehensive guide to argentina, very well researched and not overly cumbersome. It fits nicely with the rough guide series as a whole, which tends to be slighly more informative and gives you more background history ect. Not a complete guide to argentina, its a big country, but certainly the best of the lot" Why not buy this book, and read while on your Vacation in Argentina. It would be so usefull when you Exchange a Vacation Villa in Argentina. "While containing a great deal of useful information on Argentina and the typically user-friendly Rough Guide layout, this guide is a woeful 4 years out of date.
With the massive financial crises that has hit Argentina in the last two years, the picture of costs provided in this book is totally out of touch with reality. Save yourself a lot of trouble and buy a guide published no earlier than 2003, 2004 if possible." Before exchanging a Vacation Villa in Argentina, I would buy this book to guide you round the local areas in Argentina. "This is a very well-researched and thoroughly useful book with an excellent range of recommendations for accomodation and eating/drinking. In addition to providing in-depth information on the usual tourist sights it recommends quite a few exciting spots off the beaten track that helps you make your trip more special. The two shortcomings that i came across were (i) the lack of description of getting TO airports and (ii) fairly poor section on the Bariloche region." This book has best information about Argentina. | "Time Out" Guide to Buenos Aires (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"that the (recent) Timeout guide rocks, but comparing it to the OLD Lonely Planet 2nd edition (with San Telmo on the cover) is unfair. Check out the NEW third edition, with Congreso on the cover...it just came out. It`s much more updated than the old one (obviously), but it`s also more of a fun read. Given the massive number of changes in Buenos Aires, it needs to be given a fair chance. Unfortunately for both Lonely Planet and Timeout, ultra-recent changes in the BA scene has prices in the books reflected badly, along with some other things. Such is life." This book has supper information on Argentina, well worth reading if you exchanging a Vacation House in Argentina. "I find myself still reading this fascinating guide even after my return. The In Context section, which includes the chapters: History, Architecture, Literary Buenos Aires and Tango is well written and full of information. My favorite quote from this section is, "By the time you're reading this, Buenos Aires could be in the grip of an economic crisis, or the good times might just be rolling again." Ahem. The hotel, museum, monument and restaurant information was useful and truthful. The maps are clearly notated and easy to read, but if they could find a way to show the topography, the hills wouldn't have been such a suprise. I'll definitely take a Time Out guide on my next adventure." A wealth of information about Argentina, a great book if you are thinking about exchanging a Alternative Vacation Alternative Vacation property in Argentina. "In June 2004 I learned that I was moving to Buenos Aires. So I bought all of the Buenos Aires/Argentina travel guides I could find. The Time Out guide is by far the most comprehensive, most up-to-date, and hippest guide I found. In particular, I find the restaurant descriptions and reviews to be very much on-the-money. What's more is that the size and shape of this guide make it much more convenient to carry with you as you explore this gorgeous city. Make sure to get the most current edition of the book!" Why not buy this book, and read while on your Vacation in Argentina. It would be so usefull when you Exchange a Vacation Casa in Argentina. "What an excellent book. I have a couple of other guides to BA, and didn't need another, but I'm pleased I bought it. This is superbly researched, and really is the most useful guide to BA you could hope for. Historical and contextual information is lively and interesting (great stuff on tango, football and nightlife); information about the city's different districts ('barrios') has been equally well put together. There's plenty of depth, but the punchy, witty style makes this a highly engaging read. All the practical information you need is here, and the good choice of photographs finishes the book off to good effect. Time Out have done a great job all round - make this your choice for any trip to BA." Relax with this book when on Alternative Holiday in Argentina. It would be so handy when you Exchange a Alternative Holiday Casa in Argentina. "I have used this guide during a short visit in october 2001. I found the information practical, accurate and comprehensive. Even better than other like publications. It does appeal probably more to an urban and hip audience, yet it is far from shallow." Relax with this book when on Vacation in Argentina. It would be so handy when you Exchange a Vacation Cottage in Argentina. "I live in BsAs and have travelled to over 20 countries. This guide puts all others to Buenos Aires into a shamefull grave. The best." Before exchanging a Alternative Vacation Property in Argentina, I would buy this book to guide you round the local areas in Argentina. |

| Lonely Planet Buenos Aires (Lonely Planet City Guides) (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"and despite some editorial flaws, Lonely planet seems to have seriously freshed up this edition quite a bit. Descriptions are fairly accurate and good (though liberally opinionated at times) and the company seems to have eliminated the pedantic writing of its older guides. [...]It's too bad all the prices in this guide are all wrong of the peso crash, but this makes things so much cheaper for travellers. At least it's a great time to visit Buenos Aires!" This book has great information on Argentina, well worth reading if you exchanging a Alternative Holiday House in Argentina. "The book was written before the peso devaluation and subsequent crisis and is utterly useless unless you need a paperweight. This 3rd Edition is dated March 2002, and all hotel and restaurant pricing is from pre-devaluation. I spent November 2004 in Buenoes Aires and am headed back January 19, 2005. Buy Time Out Buenos Aires instead: Second Edition 2004. It is perfect!" Before exchanging a Alternative Holiday Property in Argentina, I would read this book. "OK, Buenos Aires is a spanish speaking city; but when every other word of a sentence in this book is full of spanish, it makes the book very very hard to read!!!! "Facts about Buenos Aires" is nothing but that, a list of useless facts emblished with unnecessary adjatives: "...something that differentiates Buenos Aires' people from their North American or European cousins - a striving melancholy and a desire for something greater." HM??? What we travelers want is an easy to read book, not a trash compactor, TOO much information one after another in a paragraph with vague english + foreign words is a waste. The few pictures in this book don't do justice to the city, take a look at any "paris" book out there, your response is usually "WOW, I would like to go there." after reading this book, it's like "hm... why do I want to go there?" Choose a different book; don't waste your time and money." If you are thinking about exchanging a Vocation or Holiday Cottages in Argentina, I would buy this book to take with you while in Argentina. "I used the guide while I was in Argentina. It was compact, informative, and up to date. What else do you need?" A wealth of information about Argentina, a great book if you are thinking about exchanging a Vocation or Holiday Vocation or Holiday property in Argentina. |
