| Zambia: The Bradt Travel Guide (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"There aren't many books that hold so much information about Zambia. If you're going to spend any time there this book is likely to be one of your first reads. It's specifically aimed at Zambia and passionate about the place. Other more general books tend to bypass the country a little in favour of its more famous neighbours. This gives you plenty of inside knowledge about safari related trips and lots of off the beaten track know how. There is excellent knowledge on the national parks including the less popular and less well known in Zambia, information which is hard to find elsewhere. I would recommend this book mainly to safari seekers, those on package tours, looking for good lodges, or those with their own transport. It's not so specialised for independant travellers on a budget, although many may still find it of interest." Why not buy this book, and read while on your Alternative Vacation in Zambia. It would be so usefull when you Rent a Alternative Vacation House in Zambia. "This is the best guide out there for travelling around zambia. It contains information for every place you could want to visit, and even some of the local lingo for the more adventurous. I was involved in an expedition canoeing the upper section of the Zambezi river, and found hundreds of tips that were invaluable to me when planning for the trip. It is possibly a little out of date now due to the unrest in neighbouring countries, but if that is accounted for then I don't think you will find a better book for Zambia." Before renting a Vacation Apartment in Zambia, I would read this book while in Zambia. "The book is excellent because it covers parts of Zambia that are not covered by other such books, and in sufficient detail too. During our trip in July 2000, the book was an integral part of our holiday for planning and looking for campsites. Prices were up to date, and road conditions and directions were accurate enough. Another guide book we took with us turned out to be useless. The additional info on such things as to where to get bread in the smaller towns is a nice touch! The book is thoroughly recommended if you intend travelling in your own vehicle." This book has wonderfull information about Zambia. So take it with you when you Rent a Vacation Cottage in Zambia. "I bought 3 books on Zambia before my trip - this one was by far the best. Very comprehensive, contained all that info that I needed. Some of the prices were off (the exchange rate vs. the dollar is now much better than at the time of printing which explains some of the difference (about 3700 kwacha to the dollar today, July, 2000) so the delta was always favorable). Two lodges were estimated to be about $200-$250/night, we found $100/night. Zambia, we learned as probably the best untouched reserves for gaming. Amazing, beautiful places, truly remote. Be aware that moving from one place to another in Zambia takes many hours on the road, and the roads are not good. I'd advise hiring someone to fly you to the remote airstrips rather than the typical 8 hour surface transfers. Also, remember to sit back and relax: the "Z Factor", as they call it locally, means that nothing happens on schedule : ) If you're prepared for this mentally, you'll have a most enjoyable trip!" If you are thinking about renting a Alternative Vacation Apartments in Zambia, I would buy this book to take with you while in Zambia. "This guide is the most comprehensive guide you will find if you are going to Zambia. This country usually only gets a brief section at the back of guidebooks for neighbouring countries such as Malawi or Zimbabwe. McIntyre covers many aspects of travel to Zambia from flora and fauna to accomodation and transport. A good comprehensive guide covering the whole of Zambia with excellant maps especially of the national parks. On the down side there are very few photographs, these would add to this book, and would put some flesh onto the bones of the high standard of commentary." www.HomeIsAway.com great Alternative Holiday Property to Rent in Zambia. |

| Bill Bryson African Diary (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"It's a slim book from Bill Bryson ( but then it does state 64 pages when you buy it), but that doesn't detract from a funny and moving trip to kenya and some very poignant observations. the fact all proceeds go to a charity is especially gatifying." Why not buy this book, and read while on your Alternative Holiday in Zambia. It would be so usefull when you Rent a Alternative Holiday Casa in Zambia. "Whilst this is a very short work for Mr Bryson and on a topic which it would seem difficult to find humour in, aid work in Kenya, this is a funny and touching book. The humor mostly comes from his reactions to his experiences of an eight day trip to Kenya. Bandits, they have Bandit country! Amazingly he wrote it all in two weeks, an astounding acheivement in itself. In addition all royalties and profits go to help the work of CARE international and that should sell you this book but buy it anyway as its well worth the read." Relax with this book when on Holiday in Zambia. It would be so handy when you Rent a Holiday House in Zambia. "I enjoyed Bryson's "A Walk in the Woods" and recently bought a few of his other books, the "African Diary" included. As a Kenyan reading this book, he had nothing but negative things to say. It felt like the only positive experience he had was seeing all the fossils of early man that he was "honoured" to see, since these exhibits are not open to the general public. I found my blood boiling as I kept reading, and to be honest, I had to keep willing myself to finish reading it. I kept looking for hope, but there seemed to be none. This book portrayed Kenya as a bleak place-- like it is a death sentence to be there. Yes, I acknowledge that Kenya has many, many problems, just like every other country does, but there are lots of things that are wonderful about it. Honestly, whoever would like this book can contact me, and I will gladly mail it to you FREE. I really have no use for it, and do not want it sitting on my bookshelf." If you are thinking about renting a Vacation Cottages in Zambia, I would buy this book to take with you while in Zambia. "I'm a big fan of Bill Bryson and have read most of his works. This book mirrors his other travel books and keen insight into the people and places he visits. There's a little more discussion of local people and their circumstances than some of his other works. Bryson's account is truly moving despite being quite short. The book is only about 50 pages. The book's cover states that royalties and profits from the book will be donated to CARE International. Highly Recommended." Before renting a Vacation Cottage in Zambia, I would read this book. |

| The Rough Guide to South Africa (Rough Guide Travel Guides) (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"My partner and I spent 2 months in South Africa and used Rough Guide, ourfirst break from the other travel books available. I was pleasantlysurprised with the information in it and often had other travellerssharing our book. It's just a little more sophisticated than the rest. Themaps are clear and simple and the history section amazing." This book has a wealth of information on Zambia, well worth reading if you renting a Alternative Holiday House in Zambia. "After years of persuasion, my husband finally got myself and our boys to SA, well did I impress him with my up to date knowledge of the country and all its fabulous sights! I guided him through mountain passes, to breathtaking beaches and even told him how much to tip the guy who filled up our fuel tank... Invaluable and reading this at home first prepared me for the wonderful country that it is and not what the media portrays. Well Done" If you are thinking about renting a Vacation Apartments in Zambia, I would buy this book to take with you while in Zambia. "Good general commentary on the country, but not always up to date when it comes to places to eat and drink." Why not buy this book, and read while on your Vacation in Zambia. It would be so usefull when you Rent a Vacation Apartment in Zambia. "A well researched book giving all the tips and hints that one needs to know about South Africa. The book doesn't waste your time by making recommendations and then slating them (as other guide books tend to do)." Relax with this book when on Alternative Vacation in Zambia. It would be so handy when you Rent a Alternative Vacation House in Zambia. "Accurate and well-researched book. The recommendations are generally spot on. Nicely written, it's like travelling around with a friend who really knows the place. As someone who lives in South Africa, it's reassuring to know that there are books that are able to talk frankly about the crime situation without getting into a froth of paranoia." If you are thinking about renting a Vacation Properties in Zambia, I would buy this book to take with you while in Zambia. "Rough Guides has an odd point of view on South Africa. Crime is a relavent issue there. Don't trust this sugar coated point of view." Why not buy this book, and read while on your Vacation in Zambia. | Lonely Planet Egypt (Country Guides) (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"We've just come back from honeymoon and used this book when we visited Cairo and particularly the incredible museum... the descriptions are spot on and the book guides you thru' room by room. Our tour guide was saying practically the same things as the book, so its all you need! Dress codes for women in Cairo aren't as strict as the book makes it out to be, there were loads of girls with string tops and shorts, so long skirts and long sleeved shirts aren't necessarily a must!! Other than that, pretty accurate about local customs and traditions." A wealth of information about Zambia, a great book if you are thinking about renting a Vocation or Holiday Vocation or Holiday property in Zambia. "I've been to Egypt 3 times and the last time I spent 4 months there. The general consensus amongst travellers was that the Rough Guide was superior, but that the Lonely Planet has better maps. An additional issue is that since the Lonely Planet is the most popular guidebook, do you really want to be sitting smoking sheesha at a coffee shop filled with other white middle class travellers, all with Lonely Planets on their tables? Cringe!" This book has a wealth of information about Zambia. So take it with you when you Rent a Alternative Holiday Property in Zambia. "We visited Egypt over Xmas 2002 and this was the only guide book we had and needed! It covers everything and all the major cities/places eg Cairo/Luxor/Aswan/Alexandria as well as useful guides to all the major temples and sites. There were times when frustrated with some of our guides I would walk off and explore places on my own using this book as my guide, it contains maps of the big temples and details of the layout as well as historical details...We found it indispensible...It also provides hotel info, prices, cultural/political/social information - if you're thinking of buying a guide book for your holiday to Egypt then definitely invest in this one...and have a lovely time!! Egypt is wonderful!! Enjoy!" www.HomeIsAway.com great Vacation Villa to Rent in Zambia. "There is one correction I'd like to add to the Lonely Planet, Egypt. I recently returned from Cairo, Egypt. I bought my papyrus art from Mr. Said (pronounced Saieed) and highly recommend him. However, go to his office (Delta Papyrus Center--21 El Ghouria St., 3rd floor #17, Cairo, Egypt) BY YOURSELF. There will be people trying to "guide" you to his office and then ask you to pay them. He will give you an excellent price, but go alone without any guide. Enjoy!" Why not buy this book, and read while on your Alternative Vacation in Zambia. It would be so usefull when you Rent a Alternative Vacation Villa in Zambia. "I have used several LP guides and this was the best one yet. I found the info to almost always be spot-on, and the writers of this edition present it to you with far more wit and humor than you would expect in a guide. I looked at a couple of the other reviews and noticed they were quite critical. This doesn't square with my experience at all. I spent 6 weeks in Egypt in spring 2003 and this guide was incredibly useful. Aside from the inevitable little mistake here and there, the only major inconsistency I found was that bus trips usually took about 20-30% longer than the guide estimated. that is, a 4 hour trip would usually take closer to 5. Other than that I had no complaints in 6 weeks of using this guide every single day." This book has best information about Zambia. So take it with you when you Rent a Vacation Property in Zambia. |

| The Rough Guide to Morocco (Rough Guide Travel Guides) (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"I've just come back from Morocco, and this book was incredibly helpful. From finding hotels, to making sure I saw all the best sites, without the Rough Guide the whole trip would have been far more difficult. Buy it before you go." Before renting a Alternative Holiday Cottage in Zambia, I would read this book while in Zambia. "I have no experience with the previous edition, and until now I only used the Lonely Planet on Morocco, but I did some tests on issues I had found missing in the Lonely Planet and the new Rough Guide passed the test excellently.
For instance the Lonely Planet had hardly anything on the nice road between Taroudant and Ouerzazate, in between two Atlasses, so almost fully skipping saffron paradise Taliouine and carpetters paradise Tazenaght, while the Rough Guide does not assume you will pass that road through Marrakch, which requires crossing the High Atlas twice.
And even on the road from West to East behind the Anti-Atlas through Tissint etc. the Rough Guide has a feature.
It is more weighty than the Lonely Planet, but that is because it has more information, and that is what one eventually needs.
Neil in Amsterdam" Before renting a Vocation or Holiday Villa in Zambia, I would read this book while in Zambia. "I am not actually planning to visit Morocco, but I like /thinking/ about visiting Morocco. I found this guide literate and insightful." This book has supper information about Zambia. So take it with you when you Rent a Vacation Property in Zambia. "Photocopy the city center maps from the Rough Guide and carry the Lonely Planet Morocco. It has better listings for everything else."
