| Silver Linings: Travels Around Northern Ireland (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"I was born and brought up in 'The Proud Village of Doagh', but left many decades ago. At times I have had a schizophrenic response ro my native Irish Province, but the silver linings were always my memories of people and places. I applaud the sentiments of my compatriot, Mr Forbes: this book is an excellent read. Whether you read with a glass of the Bush to hand or not, it will make you laugh, it will make you 'sit-up' with it's passing words of wisdom, and certainly it made me shed a tear or two. To mangle the cliche a little, if you enjoy the book, go visit the people and enjoy the crack." A wealth of information about Northern Ireland, a great book if you are thinking about renting a Vacation Vacation property in Northern Ireland. "One of the most enjoyable books I've read for ages. I thought I knew a lot about Northern Ireland, having lived there for 10 of my most formative years in the 60s, but Martin Fletcher kept surprising me with little gems on every page. He, and his family, obviously developed a great affection for the people and their friendliness, and this book is full of perceptive and humerous insights between the tragic incidents that we all remember. The title sums up Martin's view of the real Ulster - if we are prepared to step inside the dark cloud and meet the real people and listen to their individual stories. More than a travelogue, these stories will move and inspire you, whether you already know and love Ireland or not. Ian Bell - Scotland" This book has wonderfull information about Northern Ireland. So take it with you when you Rent a Vacation Apartment in Northern Ireland. "Martin Fletcher begins this book by tempting you to hate this little Province immediately. He is slowly won over by the small things that make Northern Ireland truly wonderful, like the warmth of the people, the strange customs and the bizarre goings on. If you ever wanted a great bedside trip around this "war-torn" wee patch of land, buy this book, take about three days off work and read it (with a bottle of Bush by your side). You will laugh, and damn it you will cry, but you will have gotten one step closer to the nicest folk on earth." This book has great information on Northern Ireland, well worth reading if you renting a Vocation or Holiday House in Northern Ireland. "Martin Fletcher has captured the essence of Northern Ireland in this delightful book. He introduces us to a wonderful patchwork of characters while he describes the beauty of the countryside. He addresses the sometimes-tragic history of the province, but he also provides some fascinating historical tidbits about the connections between Ulster and the United States that should interest American readers. Those who enjoy the work of Bill Bryson and anyone who loves Ireland, north or south, will appreciate this book. I have traveled to Northern Ireland over fifteen times since 1974, and I just happened to find this book on the last day of my recent five-week holiday. I have never read anything else that mentions so many of the people, places and things that I love about the country. I certainly share the author's hope that there are some "silver linings" on the horizon for this special corner of the world." | Fred Dibnah's Magnificent Monuments: A Guide to the Most Impressive Structures in Britain and Northern Ireland - Where to Go, What to See (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"This book is written in the style of a gazette and is not intended to be full of passionate descriptions. The 500 monuments chosen in Fred's book are an excellent choice, reflecting both Freds wide interests." www.HomeIsAway.com great Holiday Villa to Rent in Northern Ireland. "After two great book, this was a disappointment: no passionate descriptions of industrial heritage, more of a "places to go" for those who didn't visit the tourist informmation office." If you are thinking about renting a Vocation or Holiday Apartments in Northern Ireland, I would buy this book to take with you while in Northern Ireland. |

| Postcode Atlas of Great Britain and Northern Ireland: Postcode Areas and District Boundaries Plus Central London Sector Boundaries (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"While thin on plot, and wholly devoid of credible characters, the Posctode Atlas makes up for it with its stunning scenery. Covering literally all of the UK, from the Fells to the Leicester Square, from Brecon Beacons to the red light district of Southampton (all of it) - the Postcode atlas is unmatched. It's also pretty damn handy for market research samples; direct mail or door-to-door campaigns or finding Aunt Ethel's postcode. Pity it doesn't photocopy...." If you are thinking about renting a Vocation or Holiday Casas in Northern Ireland, I would buy this book to take with you while in Northern Ireland. |

| The North from the Air (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"Crawford has captured many of the key features of the beautiful Northern Ireland landscape in this excellent book. Aerial photography has enabled this book to add another dimension to many well known sites in Northern Ireland, and I would thoroughly recommend this book to anybody interested in breathtaking scenery." Before renting a Alternative Holiday Casa in Northern Ireland, I would read this book while in Northern Ireland. "I bought this book for my brother, who now lives in Tokyo, to remind him of home. | Death of a Hero: Captain Robert Nairac, GC and the Undercover War in Northern Ireland (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"No other source has painted the picture of what Northern Ireland in the 1970s was like. Nairac was a fascinating if bizarre character and the only frustrating thing about the book is that we don't know what happened to him or why. But it is a great story that would make a excellent film and adds to one's understanding of the troubles better than any straightforward history book. I would like the author to update it, if he can gind out more information - but in the meantime this is definitely worth a read." This book has best information on Northern Ireland, well worth reading if you renting a Alternative Holiday Apartment in Northern Ireland. "An interesting read if you want to know more about the intelligence side of the military in Northen Ireland. It seems as if Capaint Nairac went well beyond the call of duty - apparently patrolling in uniform then changing into civvy's and roaming the same area. However, it seems as if he was passionate about Ireland and this may have led to him taking too many risks.I think he would be pleased to see the latest developments and the efforts to bring 30 years of misery to an end. Another interesting book by the authour on a military theme!" Why not buy this book, and read while on your Holiday in Northern Ireland. It would be so usefull when you Rent a Holiday Casa in Northern Ireland. |

| Ten-thirty-three: The Inside Story of Britain's Secret Killing Machine in Northern Ireland (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"I differ from the two reviews below...hmmm wonder why. I found this book both disturbing and genuinely fascinating. Questioning research methods...don't give me that tosh...this book stands on it's own merits...read it and get angry with your own government...just another day subverting natural justice. I've no axe to grind." A wealth of information about Northern Ireland, a great book if you are thinking about renting a Alternative Vacation Alternative Vacation property in Northern Ireland. "This book would have made an interesting three page article in LOADED magazine but anybody with the most basic knowledge of the conflict in Ulster will cringe at the endless mistakes in the detail of this book such as suggesting that Ian Gow MP was killed by a car bomb in central London etc etc. The half page introduction doesn't provide any plausible background to the research methods and source material employed and to that degree it is virtually impossible to make a constructive value judgement on this material..." Before renting a Alternative Holiday Property in Northern Ireland, I would read this book. "The book is somewhat misguiding with a number of dialogue quotes which cannot possibly have come from the people involved. Davies writes, particularly in the first chapter, of scenarios which are just unresearched and incorrect. Sorry, but there are too many basic mistakes." Before renting a Vacation House in Northern Ireland, I would read this book while in Northern Ireland. |
