| The Mini Rough Guide to Malta and Gozo (Miniguides S.) (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"Just what we need for our break in Malta! A manageable sized guide book with all the information we need for our two week holiday. As well as the usual sightseeing/history in Malta, there's all the little bits and pieces of information which you need guidance with regarding everyday living. Have always appreciated Rough Guide books when travelling, easy to read!" If you are thinking about renting a Vacation Properties in Malta, I would buy this book to take with you while in Malta. "Having just returned from Holiday in Gozo, I found this book to be invaluable. Thought initially when I bought it that there would only be a small section on Gozo and it would be more about Malta, but no. Loads of information on both. What to see, what to do, where to go and where to eat. Fantastic..." This book has great information on Malta, well worth reading if you renting a Vacation Property in Malta. "To visit the Maltese island without this guide would be a crime, and just to read as a companion to summer at home, is a pure joy, as it windes its way through Sliema , Valetta, and the three cities cloaked in history from the Siege of Malta. Its worthy notes on everything from shopping to historical little pieces are a treat, with a good selection of the hotels and eating establishments. Being a very organised traveller I surprisingly found this book a treat" Why not buy this book, and read while on your Vacation in Malta. It would be so usefull when you Rent a Vacation Property in Malta. "This pocket sized 400 page guide to Malta & surrounding islands is full of facts, details, and helpful hints. This is a British made publication, which means: 1) you have great detail on after hour clubs, bars, and entertainment; 2), there will be practically no attempt to help you with the local language (which for the most part the natives can understand & speak English, even if they are heavily accented); 3) there will be no hesitation to give opinions along with the facts; 4) there will be good information on bus routes and transportation options. There are only 4 pages of photographs out of the 400, so it helps to team this book up with one like the AAA Spiral Guide which is chock full of photos, but this Rough guide is the one to stick in your pocket when you head out into the street." This book has wonderfull information on Malta, well worth reading if you renting a Vocation or Holiday Cottage in Malta. |

| Lonely Planet Malta (Lonely Planet Country & Regional Guides) (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"Malta's history is chequered and fascinating, but this has to be the first guide I've ever read that effectively discouraged me from dragging myself away from poolside and wandering some local streets. It is informative and accurate, allowing you to dip in and out for specific pieces of info, but when reading the town-specific sections and tour suggestions, I was very much struck by an 'oh, don't bother' feeling than one of enthusiasm. No place is perfect and guides wouldn't be guides if they purported them to be so, but there's a subtle difference between being realistic about destinations and underplaying them completely." This book has great information about Malta. So take it with you when you Rent a Alternative Holiday Villa in Malta. "I had 1 week's holiday left, so headed off for Malta with this book. It was fantastic. Malta has so much to offer and this book is not so large you can't read it without knowing what you want to read first. It helps you find the little, out of the way places as well as the main sites. Well worth the money." If you are thinking about renting a Vacation Properties in Malta, I would buy this book to take with you while in Malta. "After looking over 5 or 6 Malta books, the two I took with me and used the most were the Rough Guide and the AAA Spiral Guide. This book by Lonely Planet is fine and thorough but comes in second to the other two. However, this book does have the most complete list of feast days (60 or more a year in Malata?)." A wealth of information about Malta, a great book if you are thinking about renting a Alternative Vacation Alternative Vacation property in Malta. "I spent eight months in Malta, and ended up using this book in tandem with the Rough Guide version. Like all guide books, neither is 100% accurate, and that's life. Rough Guide is better for history, culture, art, etc. There will be much more info on any given sight there, but Lonely Planet has the practicalities a little more fleshed out. And as usual, the maps are slightly better. Depends on what you're looking for, really." Why not buy this book, and read while on your Holiday in Malta. It would be so usefull when you Rent a Holiday Apartment in Malta. "This is an excellent book...however there are a few places he missed. The pub in Mellieha that has FANtastic ribs and steak, and the excellent French restaurant in Marsaskala. (The waiter here knows so much about the fresh fish you'd swear he'd caught them himself!) If you're a scuba diver, Dive Med in Marsaskala gave us the BEST service!" This book has a wealth of information on Malta, well worth reading if you renting a Holiday Villa in Malta. |

| Malta and Gozo (AA Spiral Guide S.) (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"A clear and up to date guide to Malta. Particularly useful is the list of top places to visit when under time constraints. Splits the island into regions and then lists attractions in each area. We tried several of the recommended restaurant which were all a success." Before renting a Vocation or Holiday Apartment in Malta, I would buy this book to guide you round the local areas in Malta. "Having just got back from Gozo I cannot recommend this book highly enough. It was superb! It is written in a way that makes you feel like the author is with you. The tours simply have to be followed, as they take you to areas you would not normally see. We had great fun, and there was always a watering hole exactly where the book said it would be, and usually with a great view." This book has fantastic information about Malta. | Diving Guide to Malta (Diving Guides) (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"Paul and I went diving in Malta armed with this guide. Before we went we read it and it gave us a good feel for what to expect. Once we had dived there we agreed that the book gave an accurate reflection. There were a few times when the schematic maps of the dive sites weren't quite accurate, but in general one was able to picture the dive by the drawings in the book. I would not agree with some of his fish feeding practices as often in the winter months, the fish go hungry as they have become reliant on hand outs from divers." | Malta, Gozo and Comino (Cadogan Guides) (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"Having just returned from Malta, I have to say that of the handful of guide books we took to the island, this is the one we ended up trusting the most. Written with a detailed knowledge of both Malta and it's inhabitants, Simon Gaul imbues this book with a dry sense of humour ensuring that it also doubles up as an entertaining holiday read." If you are thinking about renting a Alternative Vacation Apartments in Malta, I would buy this book to take with you while in Malta. "Previous reviews have been harsh to this book. I found it totally dependable. Yes I am British and maybe that's why I found it useful. Apart from one restraunt, all his recommendations have been faultless. The section on Gozo really excells as this is where I choose to holiday on regular occasions and find it a useful guide to the personalities on the island I look forward to the new edition" Before renting a Vacation Property in Malta, I would read this book. "A superb guidebook. Good maps. Excellent treatment of the relevant historical background without going into laborious detail. Excellent practical information on restaurants, accomodations, and bus routes. Well written, with appropriate irreverance when merited." This book has fantastic information about Malta. So take it with you when you Rent a Vocation or Holiday Villa in Malta. "A superb guidebook. Good maps. Excellent treatment of the relevant historical background without going into laborious detail. Before renting a Vacation Apartment in Malta, I would read this book while in Malta. "I was looking for an introductory guide to Malta for an upcoming business trip. This was not it. Geared for British and Australian travelers with special information for gays and kids, it tends toward such colloquialisms as "Ftira, another scrummy local bread, is harder to find; it looks like a huge sun-tanned Polo mint." Information on computer access, international dialing, and other essentials for business travelers is missing or inaccurate. Most of the guide is devoted to the history of Malta, helpful if you are trying to get up to speed quickly on the subject." | The Great Siege: Malta, 1565 (Wordsworth Military Library) (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"This book is much better than most novels, it makes history alive and it is a delight to read. However, if it awakens your interest in sixteenth century Mediterranean history, there is a thing which is not totally correct. Bradford tells us the day-to-day story of the siege as the knights saw it. The overall strategic picture is somewhat distorted as he seems to forget that Spain was not (in fact it could not) leaving the Knights to its fate, the destiny of Western Mediterranean was at the stake. So if you are interested in what was really going on, please read "Gunpowder and Galleys" by J.F. Guilmartin. In the other hand, if what you want is more "action", go for "The two sieges of Rhodes" by Brockman and "The fall of Constantinople" by Runciman as these are the antecedents of Malta told in a really lively way." This book has best information on Malta, well worth reading if you renting a Alternative Holiday House in Malta. "I read two accounts of the Great Siege before. This one was better than both of them, and I sure will read more of Ernle Bradford's books - about the Knights and on other subjects.
I just have one comment - this book needs better maps. Or just NEEDS THE MAPS. There's only couple, they are scarce on the details, and very generic, more like a contour maps. That's the only weakness. And I'm not sure why Bradford is using mixed geographic naming convention - some of the names are Maltese, some are Italian (I guess those were used by the Knights at the time).." Relax with this book when on Vacation in Malta. It would be so handy when you Rent a Vacation House in Malta. "Bradford is so clear, concise, accurate, truthful, human and humane that he never seizes to amaze. His books cannot be put down; they have to be read in one seating. Only Runciman is comparable.
Surely, he is a Britton who honours and redeems his country's character through his own amazing qualities.
Read him or miss out on a unique experience!" If you are thinking about renting a Alternative Vacation Villas in Malta, I would buy this book to take with you while in Malta. "Rushdoony called it the most significant battle in all of history. How a group of knights devoted to God and aware of their pivotal role in stemming the tide of Islam, withstood the siege of Suleiman's army and navy in 1565 against overwhelming odds. Thier leader, Grand Master de la Valette, 70, was undoubtedly on of the greatest military commanders of history. His courage, foresight, and ability to see the greater picture rather than each specific incident, are all astouding. Any student of war and especially of dealing with Islam can see attitudes and behavior that are relevant for today."
