Best of all, the book is unfailingly relevant, avoiding the usual pages of filler on the blindingly obvious. The wealth of background information and the dry, witty style are welcome bonuses. "If you buy just one book to accompany you on your travels to Mt Kenya and Kilimanjaro, make this the one.

Written by the Mountain Club of Kenya with excellent narrative detailing the routes and variations for both peaks (technical and non technical) as well as a useful chapter on mountain health/ first aid.

The chapters detailing the geological history of these mountains are a bit dull (apologies to all you geologists out there) but provide a worthwhile diversion when killing time lounging around at camp (aclimatising).
