| Costa Rica Insight Pocket Guide (Insight Pocket Guides) (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"I bought this book because of its wonderful illustrations. I considered it would be a permanent record if my photographs were a failure. It certainly whetted my appetite for parts of the country I could not visit this trip yet made me notice things I may not otherwise have seen. In fact, I found it even more readable on my return from holiday." This book has fantastic information on Costa Rica, well worth reading if you renting a Alternative Holiday Apartment in Costa Rica. "...i lugged this around and liked, at first, looking at the pics -- however this book is not comprehensive in the least to the even slightly curious and adventuresome traveler. this is a tourist guide, not a travelling guide. fyi!" Why not buy this book, and read while on your Alternative Holiday in Costa Rica. It would be so usefull when you Rent a Alternative Holiday Cottage in Costa Rica. "Although I find the large Insight Guides to be useless, the pocket guides have worked VERY well for me in Morocco and in Costa Rica. By being condensed, they choose very interesting itinaries for you." Relax with this book when on Vocation or Holiday in Costa Rica. It would be so handy when you Rent a Vocation or Holiday Villa in Costa Rica. |

| Costa Rica (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"Knowing very little about Costa Rica, and planning a short visit, I plumped for the Lonely Planet guide as a pretty safe bet, also based on the reviews for the previous edition by Rob Rachowiecki. As an informational guide book it has the basics, where to stay, where to catch the bus, useful phrases, even a colour wildlife section, which is a nice touch, but for me it lacked the insider knowledge, very little insight or opinions to assist in planning - what's hot, what's not, where's a definite must see and where to sweep straight through. If you already know Costa Rica and have planned your intinerary from other sources, then I could see this would be useful, but I want a single guidebook which will help me make informed decisions on where to go once I'm there, and sadly this one will be left at home on the shelf." Before renting a Vocation or Holiday Villa in Costa Rica, I would read this book while in Costa Rica. "Last year I travelled in depth for three months around the stunning country that is Costa Rica. This guide was invaluable for my adventure. It got me off the beaten track leading me to empty beaches, secluded waterfalls and lush rainforests as well as more practically, value for money accomdation and meals. It gave amazingly accurate information on bus times which saved time and effort. I would recommend this wild and beautiful country to anyone with a spirit for adventure but make sure you remember to bring a copy of the lonely planet guidebook with you! I met travellers using other popular guides but the lonely planet was the only guide to rely on for the most up to date and reliable information. Because of the brilliant way this guide is arranged, information could be found quickly; essential when you are laden with a heavy backpack and you need to find a place to stay before the sun sets." This book has great information about Costa Rica. So take it with you when you Rent a Alternative Vacation Casa in Costa Rica. "I've used a couple of guide books for my trips to Costa Rica. This one was the best, It had more in it than others, and provided better discriptions that most of the others. The reviews of the places were honest and the prices were usually about right. The edition I used was a 2000 edition, I think that this is the most up to date lonely planet guide for Costa Rica, but I could be wrong. The is no guide book that has everything but this is the best I've found. If your only going to buy one guide book or if you are thinking about a trip to Costa Rica and want some information, I would highly recommend this book. The section in the back with animal descriptions is also very nice. Get the book, and the go to Costa Rica, you'll love it." www.HomeIsAway.com great Holiday Cottage to Rent in Costa Rica. "This book of course cannot cover everything but it was as good as it can get for what I had expected. I travel often and have used many types of guides. For this particular trip I had resources of 3 guidebooks total, this one by far was the favorite. While traveling I ran into various other people with the same book and the same opinion that the book was so useful, informative and very objective. I highly recommend it, and highly recommend when you return from the trip, take the time out to give feedback to the authors to help improve and broaden the perspectives of what can be seen in Costa Rica. Your experiences matter, so share them." A wealth of information about Costa Rica, a great book if you are thinking about renting a Alternative Holiday Alternative Holiday property in Costa Rica. "Lonely Planet tends to cater towards the low budget student traveler and this book is no different. However, I am a budget student traveler and found this book extremely helpfull. My friends and I began refering to it as the "biblia" which means bible. It knows exactly what an adventurous young traveler will want to do. Great guide, wayyyy better than the frommers. Put the frommers down." This book has a wealth of information about Costa Rica. So take it with you when you Rent a Alternative Holiday Apartment in Costa Rica. |

| Costa Rica: A Traveler's Literary Companion (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"The two most invaluable books I read prior to vactioning in Costa Ricawere this one, and a social history with magnificent photos called, "CostaRica: The Last Country the Gods Made." The funny thing is that they compliment each other almost exactly in theirselection of the geographical areas in Costa Rica that they both chose toexplore; so you can read the essay, "Travels from the Interior" in "LastCountry" then read the corresponding short story set in the highlands ofthe central plateau in "Literary Companion"! I read both books alternating back and forth like that....talk aboutopening up the country before your eyes!" Relax with this book when on Alternative Holiday in Costa Rica. It would be so handy when you Rent a Alternative Holiday Cottage in Costa Rica. "Hi, I am working at ILISA Spanish Language Institute in San Jose, Costa Rica and I just want to say that this book helps our students a lot by giving them helpful inside information and thus by getting to know all the ins and outs about this fantastic country. Thanks!" A wealth of information about Costa Rica, a great book if you are thinking about renting a Alternative Vacation Alternative Vacation property in Costa Rica. "This small compilation of short stories was a priceless companion on my trip to Costa Rica. The philosophy of the "Traveler's Literary Companion" series is terrific: one of the best ways to really understand a country and its culture is through that country's literature. I highly recommend this book for anyone planning a trip to Costa Rica, or just curious about this glorious and inviting place. ¡Pura Vida y Tuanis!" Before renting a Holiday House in Costa Rica, I would buy this book to guide you round the local areas in Costa Rica. If you are thinking about renting a Vacation Casas in Costa Rica, I would buy this book to take with you while in Costa Rica. "A fascinating variety of styles and topics. We especially enjoyed the way the stories are arranged, by region. Sleepy, pick a short story. If you wonder what it might be like to labor with a machete or to live in a small house in the jungle. If you want to know what it might be like to be the only white girl, or the only brown boy. Read this. This book will change the way you see the uniformed schoolchildren, the mysterious round rocks, the lizards... There is more to Costa Rica than identifying birds and eating mangoes." | A Travel and Site Guide to Birds of Costa Rica (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"Contrary to the earlier reviews, I rate this book pretty highly. Perhaps it does not cover all of the birding areas in Costa Rica (what book can?) but it is well laid out by region & describes in some detail several specific sites within each region. There are lists of the local bird specialities in each region & lists of the birds seen by the author & others (by season) at each site reviewed. Suggested accommodations are also listed near to all of the sites reviewed. It is a very readable guide & I have found it invaluable in planning a second birding trip to Costa Rica. Especially useful are the directions to each site & the suggested time needed to travel there from San Jose or other large towns in Costa Rica." This book has a wealth of information on Costa Rica, well worth reading if you renting a Vacation Cottage in Costa Rica. "This is not a birding field guide, but a helpful guide to quite a few Costa Rica birding sites. Very good descriptions of sites included (including some information not available elsewhere) but many other places were not covered. The author's assessments are useful. Supplements other guides." www.HomeIsAway.com great Alternative Vacation Cottage to Rent in Costa Rica. "Lots of tables and descriptions of where to go to see birds. 99% Costa Rica. A few black and white drawing of birds, plants, maps. Not good if you want color photos of birds you might see." | Costa Rica: The Forests of Eden (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"Dear Kevin Schaefer: Saw your lovely book about Costa Rica at the Casa Corcovado Jungle Lodge last week and HAD to have it. It was $80 in a San Jose book shop, but I'm happy to see that it's much less thru Amazon.com. I've ordered it and hope to have it soon. Nothing else I ever saw captures CR quite like it. The photographs are beautiful and the text insiteful. It truly is a work of love. I recommend it highly to anyone who loves that country and it's special places and wildlife like we do. Thank you, and I hope it sells well! Kathy Dickey" A wealth of information about Costa Rica, a great book if you are thinking about renting a Vacation Vacation property in Costa Rica. "Kevin Schafer's gorgeous photographs and thoughtful and well-written prose make Costa Rica come alive. This beautiful book definitely makes me yearn to visit Costa Rica sometime soon!" If you are thinking about renting a Vocation or Holiday Casas in Costa Rica, I would buy this book to take with you while in Costa Rica. "Costa Rica; Forests of Eden is a spectacular book with spectacular photos. The photos are realistic, they give a good view of how things really look. No tricks are used in the photography, so when you go to Costa Rica yourself you can actually see it as it is photographed. The text that goes with the photos give good information about ecotourism and about the environment and animals that are on the photos. The book is made with care of the photographer." Before renting a Holiday House in Costa Rica, I would read this book. "Here in one book were all the shots of flora and fauna that I missed. Upon opening the first page, I was instantly transported back to the rainforest. At times, I felt the author had stood in the same spot that I did to take his photographs. Glorious color that captures the mood, emotions and life in the rainforest. A beautiful book to give anyone who has been to Costa Rica or who can only be an armchair traveler." Before renting a Alternative Holiday Apartment in Costa Rica, I would buy this book to guide you round the local areas in Costa Rica. |

| The Rough Guide to Costa Rica (Rough Guide Travel Guides) (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"On a recent trip to costa rica, I had two guide books, and this one was lacking in comparison. I purchased this book, but then later ended up buying the new addition of Lonely Planet as well, as the rough guide simply did not have as much information. For most towns, they did not have as many accomodation listings as LP, and there were many smaller towns rough guide did not cover at all. I also found their maps not as easy to use. Overall, I would say this book is adequate, but that LP gives you a lot more info." A wealth of information about Costa Rica, a great book if you are thinking about renting a Alternative Vacation Alternative Vacation property in Costa Rica. "The 2002 edition of rough guide is a definite improvement over the previous edition of the rough guide. It is a solid guide to the sounds and sights of Costa Rica that has lots of information for the budget traveller. It has good maps and gives good descriptions of most tourist sites. I would say that this would be one of the 4 best guides for the budget traveller right now for Costa Rica--the other three would be the Lonely Planet, Footprint and New Key guides." If you are thinking about renting a Alternative Holiday Apartments in Costa Rica, I would buy this book to take with you while in Costa Rica. |
