| Lonely Planet Venezuela (Lonely Planet Country & Regional Guides) (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"What ever happened to South America on a shoestring? Dydynski often sounds like he holds Venezuela in disdain as a dirty, dangerous, and messy little Third World backwater rather than someplace somebody might actually want to visit. He comes off like a gringo snob, and his personal hotel preferences obviously lean towards the five-star end of the spectrum. Missing here are all the excellent low-cost, unique, and out-of-the-way options I used to turn to Lonely Planet to find. No descriptions of night life or fun things to do, heavy on the historical landmarks. Here and there the book waxes useful when the location in question is someplace Dydynski seems to have liked, the rest of the descriptions are not helpful. Also: many of the phone numbers I have tried from the book are incorrect. I haven't compared this book to other Venezuelan guides, so can't truly make a comparison -- but I suggest you start with another guide first." A wealth of information about Venezuela, a great book if you are thinking about buying a Holiday Holiday property in Venezuela. "The information in the book is helpful and precise. Except for prices: in reality, everything is double the mentioned dollar amount..." Why not buy this book, and read while on your Vacation in Venezuela. It would be so usefull when you Buy a Vacation Villa in Venezuela. "Venezuela is quickly changing. Prices one day may double the next day. Politics and society are in fervid change. All in all, Lonely Planet has not managed to produce a guide up to the standard of other Lonely Planet guides. Having said that, I do not know of any better guides on Venezuela, and this is still a book worth taking with you. Though you will have to take all its advice and contents with some care, not for granted." Relax with this book when on Alternative Holiday in Venezuela. It would be so handy when you Buy a Alternative Holiday Property in Venezuela. |

| Mad White Giant (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"This book could be total fiction, or it could be a wonderful adventure. Strangely enough, it doesn't matter. This is a well told story, full of exotic sights, strange peoples and wonderous experiences, but then, so are a great deal of adventure stories. What makes this particular tale so fantastic is the absolute honesty involved; the author does not waste time impressing readers with demonstrations of skill or endurance. As a result, you find yourself reading about a very normal person, not an Indiana Jones lookalike. This book covers a whole range of themes, but perhaps most importantly it presents life in another part of the world in a very understandable way and instead of confusing figures of rainforest depletion, the reader sees the impacts in terms of the people. If you want adventure, a taste of the exotic and even, shock, horror, to think a little, then this book is an absolute must." A wealth of information about Venezuela, a great book if you are thinking about buying a Alternative Holiday Alternative Holiday property in Venezuela. "A book as breathtakeing as the experience Byron Allen experienced. I was surprised to find so many of Byron Allen's books were no longer in print. I first heard of this modern day adventurer from a BBC report. Having the opportunity to visit England recently, I went to a popular bookstore and managed to find a copy or two of his various writings. Mr. Allen combines humor and a great intuitive knowledge to his writings and his travels. For anyone who loves a good story of adventure and daring-do, Mr. Allen's books are a must read. After finding so many out of print, I'm sorry I didn't buy more than just the two while I was able to. Although by no means a how-to book, it is absolutely the way things should be experienced." Relax with this book when on Vocation or Holiday in Venezuela. It would be so handy when you Buy a Vocation or Holiday Casa in Venezuela. "As well as being a compulsive, thrilling read this book deals with issues of indigenous peoples and the destruction of ancient cultures by the western civilisation. I finished it last week and am now sitting at my computer screen in London I am still thinking about the tribes of the Amazon jungle." Before buying a Vacation Cottage in Venezuela, I would buy this book to guide you round the local areas in Venezuela. "The more I read the more I couldn't believe this 'adventure' was being passed off as being real. Allen would make a good novelist but for anyone who knows this part of the world, there are so many inconsistencies and exaggerations that one wonders if there was anything to the story that wasn't completely fabricated. I've found other glaring inconsistencies and 'omissions' in his other books but this story was so much like a fairytale I couldn't help but laugh." www.HomeIsAway.com great Alternative Holiday Property to Buy in Venezuela. |

| In the Shadow of the Liberator: The Impact of Hugo Chavez on Venezuela and Latin America (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"This book is pretty true to the Venezuelan political system. Although no one likes to admit it, one of the main things that worries the racist "middle class" (as is typical of Middle classes in Latin America, they consist of about 10% of the population) in Venezuela (perhaps the only middle class that lived for much of its life supported by the incumbent, plundering governments, until Chavez arrived: hence one of their reasons to hate him) is the fact that Chavez is not "white, blonde, and green eyed". The truth of the matter is that Chavez has not wrecked the Venezuelan economy. The people striking and closing down other's businesses at gunpoint have. And yes, history has already told: he's the only president (perhaps in the world?) to have won 5 consecutive elections by landslide in 2 years. It's funny how his opposition have gone from calling him a Hitlerite to a Castro-Communist (do these supposedly intelligent people realise that they are opposite ends of a political spectrum?!)" Relax with this book when on Holiday in Venezuela. It would be so handy when you Buy a Holiday House in Venezuela. |
