| Living and Working in Switzerland (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"Very useful guide to the vast swathes of red tape you have to plough through on arriving in CH... If you're moving to switzerland then this is about the only guide available and it does what it says on the tin. He's also right about the hospitality." www.HomeIsAway.com great Alternative Vacation Villa to Buy in Switzerland. "The author has made almost no effort to describe the French speaking parts of Switzerland. Too Germanocentric and at times a little irreverent. Otherwise, all the official information, transport, employment etc... is well researched and well written." This book has great information about Switzerland. So take it with you when you Buy a Vocation or Holiday House in Switzerland. "A very useful book as it has a lot of detail. However, the author seems to have some sort of a problem with the Swiss himself. All parts where he expresses his opinions are very very negatively written and do really not praise the people. This is only his opinion and should not be deemed as correct." Why not buy this book, and read while on your Alternative Vacation in Switzerland. It would be so usefull when you Buy a Alternative Vacation Casa in Switzerland. "This is a very useful book for anyone who is moving to Switzerland for the first time. I found in this publication many useful pieces of advice for the everyday living in Switzerland. Do not hesitate to buy this book if you plan to stay in Switzerland for a long time. Taxes, health insurance, renting a house, travelling, etc. are only a few examples of the subjects reviewed in this comprensive book. A good choice. Marcelo Garcia" Before buying a Vocation or Holiday House in Switzerland, I would read this book. "and some other important details such as when you are supposed to take out your trash and the price of a freeway permit. Hate to say it but as a swiss I was offended by the bluntness, driven to tears by the caricatures and deeply frightened by the accuracy of this book. One star docked as it's a little Germanocentric." This book has supper information on Switzerland, well worth reading if you buying a Alternative Vacation Villa in Switzerland. |

| Lonely Planet Hungary (Travel Guides) (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"As a Hungarian I was wondering if I'd get any new information from this book and being a curious person I bought it and must admit that it covers mostly everything that is worth seeing in Hungary. The introductory section is a bit obsolete though this is the most vulnerable part to changes. Anyway I laughed my head off at the description of Hungarian post officers and "toilet aunties". These descriptions are true and prepare the would-be tourist for what can be expected. The section is informative, covering all the important points. The chapter on Budapest is absolutely OK, the walking tours are managable and they cover the whole city. Once you've completed the 12 walking tours you know what Budapest is like. The other chapters are good, too, though the ones describing the Great Plain and Western Transdanubia could have been a bit more comprehensive. Considering everything this guide is a good choice if you want to visit Hungary." This book has great information about Switzerland. So take it with you when you Buy a Vacation Apartment in Switzerland. "Wow. Another fantastic Lonely lanet Guide. The book has easy to find information about everything from where to stay, to wine, to local history. As i am going to Hungary to work, i found t especially helpful to be able to read up on the culture and history iof tghe country and its people. From the excellent photos and descriptions of places i will also be able to make best use of my time off. Well worth the money, and fairly up to date" This book has best information about Switzerland. So take it with you when you Buy a Holiday Villa in Switzerland. |

| Lonely Planet Switzerland (Travel Guide) (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"I really liked this book - heartfelt, witty and not at all mawkish. One for roustabouts. Mr Jackson is to be congratulated." Relax with this book when on Vacation in Switzerland. It would be so handy when you Buy a Vacation Cottage in Switzerland. "I bought the book for a recent trip to Switzerland and found it to be informative and well written. Looks like Lonely Planet are trying out something slightly different here and I like it. Going to Swizerland? Well worth the buy....." Why not buy this book, and read while on your Alternative Vacation in Switzerland. It would be so usefull when you Buy a Alternative Vacation Cottage in Switzerland. "I did most of the French side this summer and found it to be spot on. You could be travelling to a town/city by train and reading about your destination, when you get there its totally like the descriptions in the book. Theres lots of background info on Swiss soceity/culture which helps you to chat with the locals by knowing their frame of reference. If you want a good holiday in Switzerland you have to travel around and see the natural sights, this book is great for planning your itinery. Only flaw I spotted was I was walking on a bridge in Bern that wasn't on the LP map and was lost for about 2 minutes. If visiting, its best to buy this before you travel so you can do a day by day plan. I did and it ran very smoothly thanks to the LP guide." A wealth of information about Switzerland, a great book if you are thinking about buying a Alternative Holiday Alternative Holiday property in Switzerland. "I have used this superb guide for the last two weeks while travelling from Geneve to Zurich. I found the introductory chapters very interesting and the practical ones extremely useful. The town maps are accurate and we liked most of the recommendations we tried." This book has a wealth of information about Switzerland. | The Rough Guide to Switzerland (Rough Guide Travel Guides) (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"I would recommend this book to anybody on a budget. We stayed in both Geneva and Zurich and found that we got to see a lot more than we would have without the R.G. The book doesn't concentrate on expensive art galleries and opera houses. Instead you get to find out about real places. How else could we have seen the "Smurf’s village" in Geneva - actually a group of bizarrely designed modern buildings! In addition, reading about the history, the culture and the people you visit add greatly to your holiday. To get the most out of your holiday, I would definitely recommend this Rough Guide book." If you are thinking about buying a Holiday Casas in Switzerland, I would buy this book to take with you while in Switzerland. "I'm the author of the Rough Guide to Switzerland - I couldn't resist responding to the review below titled "A must for a Swiss trip" by 10za. Rough Guides may have started out 22 years ago as "rough" backpacker guides, but the guide I wrote is anything but! As well as budget sleeping & eating options all round Switzerland, we cover high-end choices in detail. Here's a brief rundown. In Geneva we give full, hands-on reviews of the best six luxury hotels, and seven more midrange hotels, plus critical assessment of fine restaurants such as Le Bearn and Miyako. In Zurich, discriminating reviews of five luxury hotels, ten more midrange hotels (six in-town and four out-of-town), and eight of the city's grandest restaurants. Where to stay inexpensively - and very expensively - in St Moritz, Montreux and Gstaad. The cheapest nosh in Bern and the finest cuisine in Lugano. You get the idea. Had to put the record straight." This book has wonderfull information about Switzerland. So take it with you when you Buy a Vacation Villa in Switzerland. "This is the best guide which I can find in bookstores." Before buying a Vacation Apartment in Switzerland, I would read this book. "I have lived in Switzerland now for 2 years and have both this and the lonely planet guide. I find this one much more enjoyable to use. It has the same level of basic information but offers much more insight and additional information. LP by comparison is very dry. I wud rate this 5 stars vs 3.5 for LP and definitely go for the Rough Guide as a first port of call." This book has great information on Switzerland, well worth reading if you buying a Holiday Cottage in Switzerland. "What I like best about the Rough Guides is that they give critical reviews. They will point out the tourist traps and will give negative reviews. I find that Frommer's and Fodor's rarely point out the negatives to a particular hotel or site. The rough guide is very critical and is a great balance to these other guides. I would balance your trip to Switzerland with a Fodors (or Frommers) book because the maps are often better and there are more higher end hotels listed. This book will help you decide where is best to spend your vacation in Switzerland. There are clear critical descriptions of all the regions and great general info on getting around in Switzerland. If you aren't interested in "roughing" it and staying in lower priced hotels.. the guides are still very useful in rating attractions, and areas in which to stay... but you will need another book to look at more moderate and luxury hotels. I would definitely read this book before going to Switzerland." This book has supper information on Switzerland, well worth reading if you buying a Alternative Vacation Casa in Switzerland. |

| Why Switzerland? (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"This work, first published more than a quarter-century ago and twice revised, most recently in 1996, succeeds because the national Swiss characteristics which it explores are essentially timeless and unchanging. While tracing the begrudging and belated enfranchisement of women and the gradual integration of Roman Catholic and Jewish minorities who once were isolated, the author conveys the underlying tensions beneath a remarkably successful experiment in coexistence. As one who lived and worked in Switzerland for more than eight years [...] I can attest that Mr. Steinberg's generalizations ring true to my own experience and observations, and that they are supported by a myriad of political and sociological details that one would normally expect to learn only from a highly educated native. The prose, though scholarly, is highly readable, and evidences deep thought and mature reflection." Relax with this book when on Vacation in Switzerland. It would be so handy when you Buy a Vacation Casa in Switzerland. "I work in the US for a Swiss company. Switzerland is unique in Europe and it's hard to figure out why. This book does a very good job of explaining the origins and dynamics of modern Switzerland. I should add that this is not a travel book, rather an examination of Swiss politics, history and culture. For a another, more irreverent, condensed but also insightful book on the Swiss, read the "The Xenophobe's Guide to Switzerland"" A wealth of information about Switzerland, a great book if you are thinking about buying a Vocation or Holiday Vocation or Holiday property in Switzerland. | The All-mountain Skier: The Way to Expert Skiing (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"It gives a precise idea of what each part of your body should do and feel to make the skis do what you want. It also says what you can expect from your skis on different terrains. The section on choosing and fixing your equipment is also very valuable. The book is also very reach of small tips that can play the difference in difficult situations." A wealth of information about Switzerland, a great book if you are thinking about buying a Vacation Vacation property in Switzerland. "This book is at the top of the list for the thoughful learner. The text and the excellent illustrations explain a variety of techniques that skiers must have to freeski with confidence. Skiing well in all conditions, all over the mountain, involves applying the appropriate technique to the situation. For the advancing skier, it is frequently a matter of recognizing the variety of situations the mountain presents and trying the techniques. That's what this book is about. I bought this book a few years ago. I lost it and have missed it ever since. I'm buying it again and giving a copy to a friend." Why not buy this book, and read while on your Vacation in Switzerland. It would be so usefull when you Buy a Vacation House in Switzerland. "The All Mountain Skier by Mark Elling is the best manual I have read. It tackles the problems faces by the second year skier wishing to become advanced. I have been taking lessons and was told to do allsorts of movements that I did not understand. This book puts those movements into perspective. On smooth piste at low speed they were unnecessary, at speed on rough and powder they become fundamental. I practice on a dry slope. Whilst reading the book I became an advanced skier overnight. All the things had been taught in training now made sense. Because I now understood why, I was able to identify the different elements and embody them in my technique. There is an effective section on equipment. I owe a lot to Mr Elling. He has saved me a fortune in tuition. This book is not for the raw beginner but as soon as you know that you want to ski beyond the intermediate level buy the book and grow into it. Thanks Mr Elling, I hope this sells some more for you." Why not buy this book, and read while on your Vocation or Holiday in Switzerland. It would be so usefull when you Buy a Vocation or Holiday Cottage in Switzerland. "The illustrations and the techniques in this book are very easy to follow. I personally like the sections on steep skiing and moguls. This book may be the second best to private instructions. However, I would say that the book may be more beneficial to an intermediate to advanced skier who would like to improve one's skills." Before buying a Vacation Property in Switzerland, I would buy this book to guide you round the local areas in Switzerland. |
