| Morocco Handbook (Footprint Handbooks) (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"I spent two weeks travelling in Morocco and this guide book was indispensible! I found it far superior to the standard Let's Go and Lonely Planet guides for a number of reasons, among them the overall durability of the book - the cover and binding are designed to stay in one piece, and they did even though we referred to it many many times a day - something that definitely did not happen with my Lonely Planet guides. Also, the warning section was straightforward without being overwhelming, which is to say I knew what I was getting into but it didn't scare me away from going. Every time I had a question, no matter how far out I thought it was, I found an answer in this book. My only complaint - the maps are not as detailed as they could be (understandable considering the complexities of many Moroccan cities). If you're travelling to Morocco be sure to pick up a detailed map of each city as soon as you arrive - and have a fabulous time!" Before buying a Vocation or Holiday Cottage in Morocco, I would buy this book to guide you round the local areas in Morocco. "This guidebook is very good at giving you information about the various historical and natural sites and also on the culture of Morocco. The background information about the country was excellent and generally better than that found in the other guidebooks of my travelling companions. It did not however contain the detailed practical information contained in their South American Handbook which was invaluable. More information on the cost of rail & bus journeys, the price of meals at recommended resteraunts and the exact price of accomodation would have been helpful. The maps were terrible and of only minimal use. A useful book, but depends what you are looking for in a guidebook." If you are thinking about buying a Vacation Casas in Morocco, I would buy this book to take with you while in Morocco. |

| Marrakech (Footprint Handbooks) (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"The Footprints guide was a brilliant choice. It offers a variety of information about culture, tourist sites, practical information, places to eat, sleep and shop. It doesn't assume that you are travelling on a low budget , but offers a variety of information for a variety of travellers, and has some hidden gems up its sleeve. It does not tell you what to do, but does inspire you to explore the place under your own steam, offering just enough advice to make your adventure safe and enjoyable. It wasn't flawless - the maps were difficult to follow, for instance - but I am chuffed I had it in my suitcase." If you are thinking about buying a Vocation or Holiday Properties in Morocco, I would buy this book to take with you while in Morocco. "Always hard to review a guide book without going into specific details, but as I bought it with a specific trip in mind, it more than suited my purpose. Trekking information wise, it didn't cover the area of the High Atlas that I was visiting, so a seperate book was needed, but Footprint always come up trumps with up to date information & detailed history & culture sections. Very adequate for Marrakesh, but would advise anyone trekking to buy specific trekking guides (also available from Amazon!)." Before buying a Vacation Apartment in Morocco, I would buy this book to guide you round the local areas in Morocco. "I have purchased serveral books on Morocco and marrakech and thisone is far the best one. It is detailed and gives good insight into the culture and good suggestions on etiquette. they also have a wonderful riad section that no other book has. i love the book and will return the others i purchased" This book has supper information on Morocco, well worth reading if you buying a Holiday Villa in Morocco. |

| "Time Out" Guide to Marrakesh and the Best of Morocco (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"If you travel to Morokko and especially if you plan to hang out a couple of days in marrakesh as it was my case, i really recommend this book that is taking it to the point. A carefully choosen list of destinations, changing from the confusing big guides i usually used! i picked up the adress of the riad zina www.riadzina-marrakech.com from this book and it was really worth it! hope you'll also like it" A wealth of information about Morocco, a great book if you are thinking about buying a Vocation or Holiday Vocation or Holiday property in Morocco. "This is a fantastic guidebook, I cannot recommend it enough. Filled with beautiful photographs of Marrakesh, completely up to date, and thorough and interesting commentary on sites to visit, historical background etc. I usually rely on Rough Guides but in this instance it was really poor - no mention of riads at all!" Before buying a Alternative Vacation Cottage in Morocco, I would read this book. |

| The Rough Guide to Morocco (Rough Guide Travel Guides) (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"I have no experience with the previous edition, and until now I only used the Lonely Planet on Morocco, but I did some tests on issues I had found missing in the Lonely Planet and the new Rough Guide passed the test excellently.
For instance the Lonely Planet had hardly anything on the nice road between Taroudant and Ouerzazate, in between two Atlasses, so almost fully skipping saffron paradise Taliouine and carpetters paradise Tazenaght, while the Rough Guide does not assume you will pass that road through Marrakch, which requires crossing the High Atlas twice.
And even on the road from West to East behind the Anti-Atlas through Tissint etc. the Rough Guide has a feature.
It is more weighty than the Lonely Planet, but that is because it has more information, and that is what one eventually needs.
Neil in Amsterdam" Why not buy this book, and read while on your Alternative Vacation in Morocco. It would be so usefull when you Buy a Alternative Vacation Property in Morocco. "Photocopy the city center maps from the Rough Guide and carry the Lonely Planet Morocco. It has better listings for everything else." This book has supper information about Morocco. So take it with you when you Buy a Holiday Apartment in Morocco. "I've just come back from Morocco, and this book was incredibly helpful. From finding hotels, to making sure I saw all the best sites, without the Rough Guide the whole trip would have been far more difficult. "This is a scholarly book filled with history, technique, and current methods of producing the beautiful ceramic tiles, mosaics, and utilitarian items of Morrocco. To tell the truth, it would be worth having just for the photographs. From elaborate architectural installations to simple wares, the rich tradition of zillij is documented with artful photos. This book will enhance the library of any serious student of North African art or architecture. Eye candy with intellect." Before buying a Alternative Vacation Apartment in Morocco, I would read this book while in Morocco. "Zillij is a wonderful guide to everything you ever wanted to know about Moroccan mosaic tiles. | Morocco That Was (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"My favorite book on Moroccan history. Harris has access to exclusive parts of Moroccan society at a pivotal time in Moroccan history (leading up to the French occupation). He writes as a sensitive traveler, but one with an insider's point-of-view. His writing style makes historical figures human; comic and tragic. His book is both funny and informative. Highly recommended." Why not buy this book, and read while on your Vacation in Morocco. It would be so usefull when you Buy a Vacation Property in Morocco. "Walter Harris settled in Morocco after dropping out of Cambridge and drifting around the war. He made many contacts with locals from all walks of life, from bandits to the Sultan and used this network to wto establish himself as one of the foremost journalists in the region. This book is a memoir of the last sultans before the French established their protectorate. It deals primarily with the foibles of a royal line deliberately seperated from the plight of their people, the corruption of shiny trinkets and Western inventions. But this is not a sermon: Harris revels in the gossipy, slightly fantastical nature of his anecdotes and presents an afectionate portrait of Moroccan royalty, men who were also his friends. Of greatest interest for those already interested in the country and a perfect counterpoint to dry colonial histories, this might be rather a struggle for the North African novice but rewards perseverance" If you are thinking about buying a Vocation or Holiday Villas in Morocco, I would buy this book to take with you while in Morocco. "Walter Harris, London Times correspondant and 30 year inhabitant of Tangier, delivers the diffinitive account of pre-protectorate Morocco and the Moroccan Royal Courts. This eyewitness account of an ancient culture coming to grips with an overwhelming Western influence is both absorbing and hillarious to the point of disbelief. Harris' tales of Berber rebels and a matter-of-fact Sultanry, in addition to his coverage of the inevitabile process of European colonialization, captures the loss of innocence which befell a still vital land. A must read for anyone interested in North African history." www.HomeIsAway.com great Holiday Property to Buy in Morocco. |
