| The Rough Guide Venice Map (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"Very nice map this. It's waterproof, being made of plastic, and has jolly clear mapping. It shows all the ferry routes, water bus routes, cross-canal traghettos, etc. The thing was stuffed in my back pocket and squashed for three days solid, and still looks literally like new. It's virtually impossible to tear. Well worth it if you're off to Venice." Before buying a Holiday Villa in Italy, I would buy this book to guide you round the local areas in Italy. |

| The Rough Guide to Rome (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"This book is a bit out of date now when it talks about currency and stuff. The reviews of places to see are pretty accurate though." If you are thinking about buying a Holiday Cottages in Italy, I would buy this book to take with you while in Italy. "I bought this book while I was living in Rome, and in my six months there saw nearly all the sights listed and more. I especially loved the book's size--I could hide it in my pocket and not look so much like a tourist, and I didn't have to walk around with a big huge map unfolded in front of me. If only the maps in the book could be a little more detailed (like, including the names of the piazzas and churches mentioned in the text!). The bars and restaurants recommended are places I actually went and would recommend to other travelers. I did find some errors in the text, but unless you're searching for specific works of art, etc. like I do, this shouldn't be a problem. Definitely my favorite of my 5+ Rome travel guides.. I like it even more than the one in Italian!" This book has a wealth of information about Italy. So take it with you when you Buy a Vocation or Holiday Apartment in Italy. "Just back from 3 days in Rome and it would not have been the same without the Rough Guide. What a source of information. From the history of Rome to the maps to the individual descriptions of each place of interest, it never left my side!! Thoroughly recommended." If you are thinking about buying a Vacation Cottages in Italy, I would buy this book to take with you while in Italy. "I've just got back from Rome, and this book was my guide the whole time I was there. It has enough information within it, to ensure you know the important aspects of the many historical sites. It also has great listings on eating out, and where to stay, and lots of snippets of information that will come in handy. This guide stayed in my ruck sack the whole time I was there (I enhanced the maps at the back of the guide by purchasing a Lonely Planet laminated fold away map - great when it starts to rain). As for Rome itself, what a beautiful place, I stood in the colleseum on an upper level directly opposite where gladiators would have made their first entrance into the arena, at the start of the many games held there, and read the section from the book to my friend, and a few others were listening in and we all started to talk about what the book has said...so yes, it is worth the purchase, and I would strongly recommend it as a guide." www.HomeIsAway.com great Vacation Property to Buy in Italy. "Rome is a confusing maze of twisting streets and alleyways. This book has great maps in the back that are invaluable for finding your way around, as well as a good list of places to see, hotels, restaurants and shops. The ones I selected based on the guide were all as promised. And because it's so small it's easy to carry. Perfect for a short trip to Rome." A wealth of information about Italy, a great book if you are thinking about buying a Vacation Vacation property in Italy. |

| The Rough Guide to Italian (A Dictionary Phrasebook) (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"Well, all I can say for know is that it's handy for bunging in my daypack for my future trips to Italy. Well thought out and explained. Gives a good overview as to how the language is like. I don't think it'll be of much use to a student of the language, but it sure comes in handy for the traveller. I'll write more when i come back from Italy with some practical experience with it. Cheers." This book has great information on Italy, well worth reading if you buying a Alternative Holiday House in Italy. "I already know some French and Spanish, but knew no Italian. I found this book tremendously helpful, much more so than either a phrase book or a dictionary by themselves, or in combination. You will probably also need a dictionary by the way for the words that aren't in this book as it is small enough to easily fit in your pocket." If you are thinking about buying a Vacation Houses in Italy, I would buy this book to take with you while in Italy. "This is ideal for carrying around with you all day while in Italy. It is slim enough to fit comfortably in a pocket or bag, and has most of the words you will need in day to day situations. The layout and design are good: clear typography and use of colour. There are many phrases as well as words, and I found surprisingly often that these were just what I needed. The downside is that there are relatively few words. This cannot be avoided except by making the book bigger or the type smaller. You may want a "proper" dictionary as well. Similarly, the menu reader omits a number of things like the less common varieties of fish, often leaving you guessing. I would have preferred a much more detailed food section as a separate volume. However, for general use, at this price, it's excellent value." If you are thinking about buying a Vacation Apartments in Italy, I would buy this book to take with you while in Italy. "We had this book and Barron's Italian Visual Language Guide on our holiday in Italy. This one was much easier to use. The dictionary format made it so easy to find the right phrase. Our other book was set up in the more traditional 'at the hotel' sections and there would be 20 pages to look through to find an appropriate phrase. With the rough guide you look up time and there is a selection of phrases around the idea. Great book!" Before buying a Vocation or Holiday Apartment in Italy, I would read this book while in Italy. |

| Lonely Planet Italy (Travel Guides) (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"I have bought Lonely Planet books many times before and found them really good, but this book was not very helpful. There is two much information on the cities and hardly anything about the beach areas or areas out of the cities. When I am on holiday I would rather have fun than read 35 pages about monks in the 13th century." Before buying a Vacation Apartment in Italy, I would buy this book to guide you round the local areas in Italy. "This is the first time I've been disappointed with a Lonely Planet publication. I found this guide to Italy superficial and not helpful. It didn't contain information about some quite large towns, information about reaching destinations in scant and maps are not easy to read. And I preferred it when Lonely Planet put all the general information in the front of the book followed by the specifics region by region." Before buying a Vacation Property in Italy, I would buy this book to guide you round the local areas in Italy. "I bought the Lonely Planet and found it didn't even have a single word about my favorite place in Italy, a small gem of a town with an incredible hostel and scenery (I can't tell the place because I don't want everyone to go there.) It also was very out of date, all of the prices were wrong and I found the reviews of places to be hard to distinguish. It says everything is great so you are left confused about where to spend you time. I ended up using Let's Go which i preferred 100%." www.HomeIsAway.com great Alternative Vacation Cottage to Buy in Italy. "Great if you plan on just hitting the cities of Italy-Not so good if you plan on going to the lakes or mountains. Pathetically little information given on the Lakes District." This book has great information about Italy. So take it with you when you Buy a Vacation Apartment in Italy. "I really enjoyed this book and found it very helpfull and with great tips and info to my TRIP to Italy/" A wealth of information about Italy, a great book if you are thinking about buying a Vacation Vacation property in Italy. "We visited about eleven cities in northern and central Italy and we carried both the Lonely Planet Italy and the Rough Guide Italy with us. I had the Rough Guide Italy and had no problems looking up information. My companion had the Lonely Planet Italy and she eventually gave up on it. She found the LP to be lacking in basic information and basically a book better left at home. We would recommend the Rough Guide instead." If you are thinking about buying a Alternative Vacation Houses in Italy, I would buy this book to take with you while in Italy. |

| Rome (Eyewitness Top 10 Travel Guides) (Book)Customer Rating: Reviews:
"All you could ever need to know about a trip to Rome - there information on how to get there, what to do there, how to survive there ... how to get the most from your trip to Rome. The book is usefully split into guides of various areas of Rome, as well as listings and reviews of restaurants, hotels and hostels. The guide is written in a very personal style which can occasionally be a little too cynical, but on the whole this made the whole process more charming. I couldn't stop reading the book I was so engrossed - but it turned out to be easily dipped into on my actual trip as well - a definite must." If you are thinking about buying a Alternative Holiday Villas in Italy, I would buy this book to take with you while in Italy. "I have just been to Rome and i took this handy little book with me. I was only there for four days but i ate in a few of the recommended restaurants and they were all fantastic. The book also recommended the best ice cream in Rome and it really was the best ice cream i've ever had!! - anyone going to Rome really has to go there!! All of the top sites were magnificent however i don't think its really necessary for the book to point out that you should go to the pantheon and colleseum etc! If you're looking for a guide to the history of each of the sites then i would suggest taking a book that specifies in this. I used the book mainly for eating out as i always find it difficult to spot nice, less touristy restaurants in a new city. It also has the bus routes which are really handy, a small map of the city (not much detail of smaller streets) and some useful phrases and tips. Overall a very good buy and highly recommended for anyone going to Rome. =)" This book has wonderfull information on Italy, well worth reading if you buying a Vacation Apartment in Italy. "The unfortunate problem with this book is it is on the MS Reader platform. This means you are about to buy hours of frustration. "Just download the book-Oh, by the way,you might need this free program called Microsoft reader." It doesn't mention all the hoops you have to jump through as Microsoft manipulates you into having to sign up for a lot of other things you don't want, always with the dangling carrot that if you just spend another hour dealing with error messages and malfunctioning servers you may actually be able to download your book. If you are bored, this can keep you occupied for hours, maybe days. On the other hand, if you actually want to read the book, stick with ebooks in the Acrobat reader version-you just download the reader (not forced to download and sign up for a bunch of stuff you don't want) and you might have some time to read. Better yet, stick to paper-it has worked for over a thousand years." Relax with this book when on Alternative Holiday in Italy. It would be so handy when you Buy a Alternative Holiday Property in Italy. |
Learn Italian

| Talk to me Italian Beginner / Intermediate / Advanced (Software)Customer Rating: Talk to Me Italian is a well-composed CD-ROM programme with some quite flashy graphics, good video learning aids and an online resource centre. The language learner is provided with a map on which they can chart their progress from beginner to advanced in a variety of subject areas, including the supermarket, the post office and the aftermath of an accident. Like Transparent Language, Linguaphone, and other programmes in the field, Talk to Me Italian comes with voice-recognition software that will monitor your pronunciation. At the lower level, you participate in an interactive dialogue and select your response from three options. As things progress, you move to rearranging words in sentence order when they are thrown at you all jumbled up. The vocabulary becomes progressively more complex, but simply pointing the cursor at a Italian word provides the English translation. This is a highly competent software package. One of the best things about it is its sense of humour. In one dialogue you have the option of replying in Italian "I'm a machine, I have no name." This sort of wit is quite unusual in language packages and it really sets Talk to Me apart from its competitors. --Toby Green Reviews:
"I have been studying Italian for a year and bought this item out of interest. It is very very poor, put together by computer people and not language teachers. In fact it teaches you nothing, but does test your language skill. However you can not learn, it has no lessons in any conventional form. You can not possibly develop the skill of speaking Italian from this. The only thing of interest is the section that uses a microphone to asses your pronunciation of Italian. I found the whole thing very poor indeed." A wealth of information about Italy, a great book if you are thinking about buying a Vocation or Holiday Vocation or Holiday property in Italy. "I'm Italian and I bought it for my boyfriend. I was very excited. But as soon as we installed it we realized it wasn't what we thought. They say "you being able to learn a language and conversation skills from beginner to advanced" and there is nothing further from the truth. It helps you only with the pronunciation, but you must speak Italian already otherwise you don't know what your saying. And let me tell you, being Italian myself even the pronunciation is not always so good. If you're trying to learn Italian do not buy this. I wanted to buy the Spanish course for myself, but I won't anymore." Before buying a Alternative Vacation Property in Italy, I would buy this book to guide you round the local areas in Italy. |
